Remove interrupt mechanics from the game

Aaaaaah!
I see what you did there.

Would rather they just fix the inconsistencies with them.

Some classes get them for free, some have to talent into them, some get them but only if it’s a certain pet even if it might not be the best one based on your spec, some classes get resources if they interrupt (if they talent for it), some interrupts are multi target.

At least we are passed the days where it cost you resources to interrupt.

a problem with interrupts is that if it is just 1guy he is usually immune if more than 1 I can only see the cast bar on the guy I am attacking .

The real issue is that there are just far too many things to interrupt—like five different spells per group—and players often have no idea which ones can be safely ignored and which are actually deadly. Blizzard’s dev team has failed to communicate this effectively to players. It’s plainly just bad design.

It’s even more annoying now how Blizzard put in that silly game mechanic to where you get auto interrupted if you try to pull a lot of stuff in a dungeon and also how you can no longer pull an entire zone worth of NPCs cuz they all run away. I was doing a dungeon and all these NPCs kept stunning me back to back even when they never had that mechanic before. And was not on a high level toon trying to run the dungeon… I was at the level the dungeon was at. So that silly stun mechanic needs to be gone from the game. That never used to happen.

So you don’t die. You’re welcome.

Would prefer they do this rather than force us to use a talent point, always satisfying interrupting a caster with a blow to the neck to cut off casting before pummeling them into the ground as a monk. It’d be a shame to see interrupts go as then i’d lose a trick for fighting casters and some melee fighters

All that means is you are dumbing down the game .

Yes… I know that…

But they used to be until I think Cataclysm. I was mocking the people who haven’t bothered to learn their class since then, and I know several. But forgot you can’t be sarcastic online, my bad.

I edited my original post.

Please keep the discussion going.

I think the question at the heart of the OP is how much does the game benefit by having spell interrupts as a mechanic? How much player satisfaction/enjoyment is generated by having this interaction with the game? Would people miss it if this part of the game was gone and the game were retuned with that in mind? I always enjoyed getting a good kick in when I pvp’d and I did well enough with kick rotations back when I did content where that was a thing, but I won’t pretend I have the pulse of the current community on this one.

I think, in all seriousness (cause I make a lot of jokes in threads like this), removing it would be a mistake. It’s a mechanic that, at least somewhat, allows for a bit more complex combat rather than just straightforward spank and tank stuff.

It’s just a small add, but small adds add up. Does it lead to a slippery slope scenario? We get rid of interrupts because they’re kind of annoying. Do we get rid of stand in bad mechanic? Where is the line? Is there one? I really don’t know. We’re getting into more complex gaming than I do in this game, and I don’t have a solution, but I think that the game’s combat would be lesser for making it more simplified.

Its not a complex game mechanism.

People being bad at the game does not justify it being removed.

Is this a fact or opinion?

How can we get players to “get better?”

Wouldn’t you want the game easier for new players?

Do you have any solutions?

Help me understand what you’re thinking please

I am thinking that just because people are bad, we shouldn’t remove mechanics.

The consequences of not doing those mechanics is already lessened for a new player to where they aren’t vital.

The penalty for not doing it ramps up slowly, allowing a person to learn and have incentive to perform those mechanics.

Imma vote no on this one guys. I’m fine with interrupts being a thing, especially when dealing with NPCs (or especially players) who are healing.

Keep interrupts, players who don’t interrupt: learn to do it or get kicked.

I like what you’re saying and I get it.

How can we make the steps easier for those players who seem to fall off at some point?

What we’ve found is often you can’t. DPS like this will shirk responsibility at every opportunity unless they are threatened enough by the mechanic to need to handle it themselves, the only way to make players interrupt casts is the same as the only way to make players move out of fire. Make their lives worse as a result, either by killing them or debuffing them.

I love how bads blame everyone else in their parties, like the OP never missed a kick. If you’re so good OP why dont you have any good achievements?

So you want all the skill/coordination removed from PvP?
