100% optional and sub-optimal at many points in the leveling process in terms of power.
Also proven to be objectively slower in BFA to use heirloom helm, shoulder and chest.
If anything, buff heirlooms!

I hope you have enough sense not to buy them and upgrade them (it’s VERY expensive) if you don’t like wearing them.
I have like 10 or 11 120’s at this point, and I’m still leveling my toons Horde side to see all the stories and quests I missed and have a full army on both sides. Heirlooms make that grind much more enjoyable for me, and I like being in fully transmogged gear from level 1 or 20 all the way up.
If you like moving slowly through the game and gaining xp at a more reasonable pace…don’t wear the looms. I get it. I played Classic for that VERY thing. I want that slow movement and immersion, sometimes.
But keep your mitts off my heirlooms. I have curated a large and expensive collection of them, and they bring me a lot of enjoyment.

Just dont use them? How can they possibly ruin your game? Honest question, I would not care if they gave a sizable refund plus something extra for taking them away, but thats not gonna happen, if anything I could see a blizzard playbook move and they just disable or lower the %exp bonus when shadowland hits and thats it, that would feel like a kick in the nuts… But i do see it as something that could most certainly happen

Honestly the OP sort of has a point
It’s not so much the xp boost that feels a bit bad it’s the fact that you only have a few gear slots that can get upgrades
So you pretty much spend the whole time not being excited when you get some loot

Consinder 1-100 pvp kinda requires em without basicly being one shotted. At the very least they should be kinda disabled for pvp so newer ppl that wants 2 can learn pvp without being ran over my heirlooms and enchants lol
