stop acting obtuse. you understand exactly what he means.
it should be banned for the same reason the HC addon bans bubble hearthing. yeah it’s tEcHnIcAlLy AlLoWeD but it’s clearly cheesy and against the nature of the hardcore challenge.
Not being obtuse, but I’m just pointing out that once a gate is established and people cross it, more are placed. It’s been an entertaining chapter in WoW. The official servers are going to be just as bad.
Every time something comes up, goal posts are set and then moved based on… some weird desire to keep people out? Invalidate them? Who knows. Another case study to say the least.
For me it’s the same as people who do HC dungeons and bail at the first hint of something going wrong by either HS or running to entrance. It’s bad form. Being able to dip especially using mechanics that aren’t intended for that use is disingenuous. To still claim HC after that… I dunno just feels dirty.
Then again I also don’t get people doing the HC challenge and using guides or over leveling content. Where’s the challenge in a group of lvl 22’s doing deadmines, 26’s doing SFK or 38-40’s doing Full SM clears.
Looking at the average type of players these days, and what you see in retail, it’s not really surprising. People bail on M+ at the first sign of trouble. People zoom through content as fast as possible. To each their own, but the worst enemy of HC is some of the people who play HC.
It’s a microcosm of the player behavior in general. Kind of encapsulates how it’s nearly impossible for Blizzard to make every player happy too in some ways.
You’re not the authority on the matter.

HC is DOA. Who cares if cheaters are cheating in HC. They cheat in Era, they cheat in Wrath, they cheat in retail. If it’s not this then something else so don’t bother making special servers outside fresh and som.
Very true.
People always seem to want to force people to play their way rather than let people enjoy playing how they want.
I guess I’m a little guilty of it here cause I disagree with the petri/ghetto hearth meta.
Time will tell but I have a feeling blizzards servers will be rather simple and just death = permanent.
I get perhaps if people were outright cheating or circumvented existing rules, like that trade stuff that came up not long ago. But suddenly opposing petri/hearth when it existed then and wasn’t something they considered in the rules makes it difficult to take the challenge serious.
First this, now that, then this, now those things… it goes on and on. Not saying rules shouldn’t be updated, but how do you update something like that that many people are doing and is part of the game? Even nixxing bubble hearthing is silly. It’s part of a classes toolkit.
The thing is it didn’t really exist then. It did but people weren’t doing it en masse cause there wasn’t a reason to.
It only came up with HC raiding cause death is permanent.
That I agree with. I think eliminating class abilities is dumb. The only ones I am on the fence are the ones that require death at the same time though if it’s up it’s up. It’s not different than a rogue or hunter escaping death once due to an ability then failing cause it’s on CD.
the ghetto hearth allows you to use your hearthstone even when it’s on cooldown and with NO casting time
this thing was put in because the devs didn’t know what else to do with a person that left the group in an instance, i guess
using this thing to save your hardcore character is clearly an exploit. and we fix exploits. just like SoM fixed dungeon boosting, HC needs to fix this kind of junk.
it’s simple as that. don’t let people gaslight you with nonsense about “omg just let me play the way I want”
just change the spell petri triggers to videre elixir, secretly, and watch this community implode on itself
Petri doesnt need nerfed…ghetto hearthing does.
My title is a little mis-leading. I dont want the flask changed at all, just how ghetto hearth works.
Fixing that in itself will nerf petri without even touching it.
Ghetto hearth was clearly not working as intended thats why it changed from your HS location to nearest GY in Wrath
Same.
They should also consider removing world buffs.
Too softcore.
i play retail wrath and era, you’re the clown thinking that you’re special because you don’t enjoy other versions of wow, but keep dying in RFC.
the question is why not? you’re mad because everyone can scape with petri flask, with this logic shammys should be able to resurrect and even warlocks with SS because those are class-wide spells.
my point is, if warriors can’t scape, no one should. Tank dead = whole raid dead, scaping iS nOt HaRdCoRe.
EDIT: still waiting your 60 in a raid. Please show the prove, you’re toxic af but you can’t prove that you’re even raiding while claiming a petri nerf.
Warriors don’t have a drop agro mechanic in their class others do. Don’t want to stay in the fight play a cowardly rogue or a hunter who understands the minds of the beasts. Paladins are living embodiments of the Light, their divine escape from danger is preordained. No class changes should be made. If blizzard was going to make widespread changes they could have just started with a retail or wrath benchmark.
Petri pauses ghetto hearth timer or remove petri, it’s lame af.
My counter argument to this is why shouldn’t a class be able to use their class abilities to avoid a death? Secondly, using in-game items that one crafts or earns that can help avoid a death seems totally legit to me. That is just good game play, I don’t see how it detracts from hard mode unless a person thinks you should just face tank everything and somehow not die.
the thing that isn’t legit is taking advantage of an old archaic system that boots you back to your hearthstone location if you leave the group inside an instance
