I very distinctly remember anti-woke people complaining that this game was woke because it had 2 women in it
this was def because it was just a bad game released after over a decade of hype.
1- BG3 is objectively woke, every single male is weak and every single female is a girlboss
2- What masks the wokesness (thats why the game is sucessful) is the fact that you can make your own protagonist and Shadowheart exists.
3- If main character were Wyll and shadowheart were ugly you could cut its sales by at least 50%.

Honestly, I think people want politics in games when its well done and interesting.
The issue is when its hamfisted and terrible it stands out all the more. I don’t think at the core of the issue politics or pandering is the issue. Its how horribly talentless the writers are.

What about the game having body types and you can be trans in it? Is that not woke? I remember complaints here about body types in WoW and how it was “pushing a woke agenda”

No, because players can choose it or not, they are not forced on it.
We will never know what this means because it changes from person to person and game to game. Even in this thread there is 0 consistency on what “politics” in games is done well and interesting.
