This is like saying that we need flat earthers to reflect on the true shape of the earth. No, we can investigate the shape of the earth just fine without them. Assume that one day modern humanity armed with their logic and tools of observation just showed up ex-nihilo on this planet. Without having seen the planet, and without needing to postulate the flatness or roundness, we could get to brass tacks and simply establish the facts so that we could get on with our days and go on to solving larger issues and the repercussions of the fact of the shape of the earth.
