Would you guys mind if they removed ES from the Talent Tree? Right now i feel like it contributes to button bloat and nothing else. I wouldnt mind having it scrapped and turned into a glyph for Arcane Shot
They can remove Barrage and replace it with Flayed Shot but Explosive shot is pretty solid damage for Survival and I imagine MM too. Given the lack of ideas on Blizzard’s end for hunter, better to be coming up with new talents than removing them currently. And button bloat? Not really more button bloat than Bestial Wrath or other short CDs for a class that has so few buttons for their core rotations compared to say feral where you got ST finishers, AoE finishers and like 4-5 generator buttons depending on if you’re in ST/AoE - that spec has some button bloat as I’m learning it.
It’d be a shame to see it go.
I think it’d be better if they were able to de-tangle the entire spec to the point it could actually be a solid ability again.
As things stand at the moment, I’d be inclined to agree with you… but I think that’s a problem with the current rotation more than explosive shot.
This is not a well thought out post.
I don’t think they should.
Explosive gives mm some good aoe burst.
It’s not what i would consider button bloat.
It’s certainly not a good button press though.
They did bake it into Salvo on the MM tree, and it applies to 2 targets, do we really need a 30 sec cd button to shoot 1 more?
Remove the fake one and replace it with the old one? yes, though i don’t think it would fit in the left tree anymore. would probly become a marksman talent replacing aimed shot or rapid fire
Yes.
It contributes quite a bit, gameplay-wise and in terms of useful damage profile, in mixed AoE content, and —imo, at least— an enjoyable somewhat-unique distinction in being able to move its GCD cost away from its consequent damage, essentially freeing up a GCD within a following damage window while still having that window benefit it.
I would absolutely mind.
Then consolidate it with Salvo when Salvo is taken.
Would people stop asking to remove class-wide tools (Explosive Shot hits 40% harder for SV, for instance, making a sizeable part of their opening AoE burst) just because they have a spec-specific redundancy available to them?
Deal with the redundancy, not the initial core tool.
I.e.,
-
Salvo
2 charges. 20-second recharge time.
[Explosive Shot: 3 charges. 15-second recharge time.]
Your next multi-target attack will consume up to 2 [3] charges to apply Explosive Shot to up to 2 [3] targets hit.If you have already learned Explosive Shot, both will share 3 charges, each with a recharge time of 15 seconds.
Salvo, not Explosive Shot, is in the left tree, and would be mostly irrelevant to that exchange of Aimed Shot for old Explosive Shot.
More importantly, why would you waste a 30s burst tool just to get another flavor of single-target DoT damage on a 12s CD but named “Explosive” Shot, of all things. The only difference between Barbed Shot and old Explosive Shot is that Barbed Shot is quite a bit more interactive, has additional synergies, better scales with Haste, and can’t be screwed over by your target dying before your periodic means of resetting charges is depleted. It’s a better Black Arrow and Explosive Shot, rolled into one ability, with additional points of interest more than what those collectively had.
I’m beginning to think that most of these suggestions are just nostalgia for days of gameplay, frankly, far simpler even than modern BM.
I think a problem is everyone thinking every ability needs to have 5 different daisy chained synergies with spec. yes, it’s a problem when there are too many of “push button do damage” but the conversation should be more about how to incorporate general abilities into more spec specific ways
Tfw there’s actually less resultant complexity in daisy-chained synergies than among disparate abilities with differing contextual priorities and cooldowns, especially if those CDs would intersect each other and thereby compete for GCD space.
if an ability doesnt have three paragraphs of built in synergies then we dont want it!!
