Remove critters / battle pets from the target dummy area

I like to test out new gear and traits at the target dummy in Stormwind City because it’s the most conveinent one for me. However, sometimes abilities proc and do AoE and it keeps hitting the lvl 1 critters for millions and skewing my dps meter. Please remove these annoying pests from the target dummy area.

i don’t think blizz will change something like this unofficial stuff

best thing is to try to get the add on to ignore critters in the calculations, or cut the critter out of the total with old fashioned math

That’s not really a solution, nor is it simple math, there’s a lot of factors it could skew.

OP has a point, if there’s critters roaming around by target dummies then they shouldn’t be there.
The whole point of target dummies is to test out your damage.

Get yourself one of the 3 (I think its 3) toy target dummies. Then you can use them wherever you like.

Easy solution.

PS: what possible effect on your dps would killing a level 1 critter have?

Yea its a pretty dumb place to spawn a critter. Doesn’t belong there.

it’s not really the dps, but rather procs and stuff, if a something procs cause of a hit on a critter that won’t be there during boss fights or other stuff, it could skew the results

best thing is to find a place without critters, try to deal with it and do some math with the proc rates or other junk that critters can cause, or try to get blizz to remove critters from the locations, but i don’t think their gonna take time to do it, but they could prove me wrong

Oh I guess that is a consideration.

The toy target dummies I mentioned would work for higher level toons but obviously wouldn’t work for anything under MoP level, which is the lowest of the dummies. Given that we have lots of portals, you could go to other cities that don’t have the critters.

Otherwise, I guess just wipe them out and start testing, and just wipe them again when they respawn?

what, you want blizz to disrespect us true players who subscribe for the critters? if they remove critters from any area in the game, i’m unsubscribing. this is the sort of elitism i am so tired of

the gentle casual shall be stepped on by bourgeois raiders no longer!

There’s an easy solution here, in a simple 4 step process.

Step 1: Use liberal AoE to clear out any critters around the dummies. Critters have about a 3-5 min respawn time.

Step 2: Reset dps meter

Step 3: Perform your personal patchwerk test

Step 4: End test. Profit. (or QQ that your dps is crap)

Alternatively you can go onto Ask Mr. Robot or similar and let the internet program do it for you.

This is another things I like about FF 14. They actually have designated areas where you can test your performance on actual simulated boss fights and the game already has a benchmark for personal dps based on role to clear an encounter and the game will just tell you if you pass or fail and by how much. Also these “dummies” actually do mechanics you will have to deal with during the fight.

Edit for clarity.

If you mean why do the critters need to be removed, if I should be doing 50k DPS and an AoE proc hits a critter by accident - it deals 25 million damage because of scaling since it’s a level 1 critter and my DPS meter pumps my DPS to like 600k and messes it up.

Thanks for reminding me of the target dummy toys though, I forgot about those.

Yes, I realised that from another commenter, re the proc thing.

Regardless if how you do it, remember any figure you get will be only a rough ballpark as it doesn’t account for mechanics, movement, buffs, debuffs, and a host of other variables.

Yes, target dummies have always been pretty inaccurate, at least over the last few expansions. They don’t account for things like how your attacks are affected by being attacked, and things where your target has to be below a certain health to use an attack.

Hmmm, yeah that’s a bit of a oversight having anything that can be killed or attacked being in any remote proximity to a combat dummy.

Why aren’t you just killing the critters first?

That’s what I was wondering.
Even a rogue should be able to manage that much.

I mean you could always just take the tram to Ironforge, are there any critters by the Wod garrison target dummies? I honestly don’t remember.
