Hey guys and gals, at Blizzard and the PvP community.
I feel like a positive change for the game going into SL would be the removal of conquest from BGs and Skirms.
With the PvP gearing changes it makes no sense to be there. And even worse it creates a dissatisfaction in doing them.
Hear me out, I realized this tonight. Every once in a Blue Moon som friends and myself jump into GW2 a few hours a night and do Arena (like Mini BGs) we were doing this tonight. GW2 for those that don’t know, doesn’t really have a carrot for that, you do it because its fun, nothing to gain.
So someone said, “hey this is a lot like BGs in wow, how come we rarely do BGs” and we realized. We use to, then with BFA we did only our 1 per day, as it felt bad to do more at less conquest gained. Then we just stopped doing them all together.
With the added conquest, they feel like a chore, and as such it feels like doing 1 a day only after that it feels like a punishment, and then doing none at all until we have mostly stopped doing them, and that’s a shame. I feel like if you got rid of the carrot, and just let BGs be fun again, more people would do them.
The saying that rings true, that’s been brought up alot lately to some Dev decisions recently made applies.
“If given the chance players will optimize the fun out of the game” and I feel like this is exactly whats happening here. With the carrot design, it makes something that use to be Clean fun, no longer that.

well guild wars 2 has ALOT more cosmetic rewards for pvp than wow. WoW pvp is very lackluster

No, I don’t play GW2. But plenty of people still queue BGs, which is why I ask if this is a troll.
I wish pvp had more cosmetic rewards.

You should try it. When you queue for a BG at like level 5 or 10 you instantly get boosted to the max level and you get a template gear set with fully customized talent build and spec and theres alot of cosmetic progression you can work towards.

Nothing wrong with playing multiple mmos, juga! If classic wow wasnt a thing I would probably be playing GW2. I do want to go back to it again. I like the asura race.

Simply telling MY story, and something I have came to realize.
That a once fun, casual game mode, has came to feeling like a job. Due to that feeling its unfun.
We have begun to optimize instead “we get more conquest in areana” or “can’t run a second BG as will only get 8 Conquest”
It feels like a punishment, a sub conscious flag in your brain, makes it feel like its a chore, and being punished running more than 1.
Arena and RBGs give plenty of conquest, and 99% of the time, its not even noticed as you push for rating, and conquest is an after effect.
With BGs the conquest becomes apparent and that causes issue, with the fun aspect of BGs.
BGs can still give Honor, just do it like now and don’t advertise it. There is no reason for BGs to give conquest.

This is partially true but when I was playing BFA 6 months ago I never needed to do RBGs or arena to cap. You can do world pvp and island expos. Super easy bro.
Juga, classic is not a job and doesnt feel like a job. It feels like an amazing game to play.

Whats the irony in that? BGs were never meant to be more than a casual game mode. Adding conquest to them, and gear from Conquest turns them into a chore and makes the fun disappear, at least for me, and mines that realized it tonight.

classic bgs is pretty casual if you arent pushing past rank 11. And even then after you complete your specific honor goal there’s nothing to get other than reputation and that has a end point.
