I would be massively in favour of removing the Black Fathom Depths raid lockout, I understand it creates an artificial playtime extension loop, however I would just love to play the game more, it has no bearing on actual endgame given its level 25 content so being over geared given the already available gear isnt really a major issue, and to cap this the content phase is nearly over according to the timeline released.
Please remove the lockout ID’s currently I am just raid logging/Playing alts I would love to play my main, so help a brother out.
People would be completely bis geared out in 1-2 days. The game would die quickly as there would be nothing else to keep anyone coming back. You think you want the bis gear immediately with no raid lockout but for every 1 of you there’s a hundred sweatier players who will also be completely bis geared out. You won’t feel as strong as you think. Your gear won’t feel special or like it’s worth anything. No epic items will feel rare.
The lockout rewards time investment into specific characters. A new character that plays 16 hours a days for 4 days shouldn’t be able to get just as geared as someone who has been playing for a month and a half diligently
This would be the quickest way to kill the longevity and quality of the game no thank you.
I would be open to the idea of personal loot however
Level 25 is currently the end game. You run the raid every 3 days and maybe you get loot. At 40 people will likely be 4-5 manning the raid for the gear that is better than anything from dungeons at 40. You can get pieces then too.
We’ve got to stop asking for handouts, catchup mechanics, and participation trophies. That’s not classic.
Level alts, cap out your WSG rep, level your professions, try out a new class, etc. With lvl25 being the cap, now is the easiest time ever to just mess around with new characters without much stress or worry. Then when the lvl40 cap releases, you’ll have options ready to go.
I think a day or two is reasonable. 3 days if you think about it is kind of long. If we assume an 8 week phase (and it oculd be longer, but still) iIf you hit level 25 on day 1 somehow, you’d get 18 total attempts at BFD before phase 2 which doesn’t seem like a lot to me.
I dont think it is all there is to this version of the game, however I think one of the primary issues is alot of the developed content is a one and done type of thing e.g get your runes now your characters complete, get your rep now your character is complete etc.
the original version of the game classic wow was never designed or developed to be a game where you spam alts in order to pretend there is content, the original devs actually stated that they envisioned players only playing one character and that they were playing as that character in a much larger world e.g the whole mmorgp thing, and spamming alts is pretty much just retail.
PvP does have a repeatable gameplay loop to it but so does PvE (at least at 60), the issue being that with PvP you can do it whenever you want, and at 60 you have a multitude of raids, 10 mans and 5 mans all designed to be played at 60, whereas the only relevant PvE content available at the moment is BFD. Due to this the Raid ID it puts a hard content cap on any available PvE content which you may want to play on your main, an issue which isnt as impactful at 60 due to there being so many raids you can cycle through them and dungeons whenever you want.
The reality is this level 25 raid will have little to no bearing on any future phases, especially if they follow the same trajectory of gear strength in future leveling raids, and its difficulty is similar to that of ubrs, and additionally with the content phase being nearly at its end they really should remove the raid ID similar to a final patch and let players just have fun and play the game however and whenever they want, I know I for one am currently only logging in every 3 days to do the raid.
I honestly still think thats way too much, there needs to be no raid lockout id for these leveling raids theres no reason to punish anyone because they want to play the game so just let them play the game, why put systems in place to stop them from being able to play it.
Raids have always had “artificial timers”. It’s not a dungeon. You do it when it resets, maybe you get loot, maybe you don’t.
Nothing would kill SoD faster than people spam running the raid and getting all the gear.
MAYBE after Phase 2 launches it could go down to a 1 day lockout, or it could be spammable. To help those out who will need items from there still at 40. But not til then.
If raid lock outs would somehow get removed, what about pvp gear? I’d want the rep cap extended to exalted for the ashenvale event, and the rank 3 and rep gear scaled up to the bfd raid pieces to match.
