I think in the scheme of customization, and folks clearly wanting these (and of course me being salty that my shaman can never look good), I think for transmog purposes we should be able to use whatever equippable armor we can (or just opening it up all together).
So cloth wearers (limited to cloth still, sorry!)
Leather wearers (limited to leather, cloth)
Mail wearers (limited to mail, leather, cloth)
Plate wearers (limited to plate, mail, leather, cloth)
Preferably I’d like to see all of it go away so you can have a priest wearing plate. I truly don’t see the harm at this point as we have naked dad bods running around, or paladins wearing bikinis. In that I do think class specific armor should stay class specific, but the opening up tmog would spawn a different level of creativity and give folks another outlet.
There are so many armor sets, such as cloth that contains plate/mail aspects, that some of it truly just does not make sense. Open it up!
Thoughts?

I completely agree and one hundred percent support this idea.
Some of my favorite appearance sets are the likes of the Raiment of the Blighted Tribe from BFA, minus shoulders with eyepatch. Or what this character is wearing now.
I’ve got a Worgen warrior I play around on from time to time, not a fan of most plate armor appearance, so I keep him in the Grayguard outfit, minus shoulders.
I’d love to be able to put that warrior in the same outfit I got this character on, or at least blighted tribe. Same with a hunter I play on occasionally.
I completely agree, if you can technically equip it, you should be able to mog it.

If Anduin can use plate, then Azeroth’s champion, Titan destroyer, can, too.

I wouldn’t have agreed except I recently made a druid and realized I hate every leather mog in existence.
I agree on transmog restriction removal. If for no other reason than we can choose to hide almost all armor.
There are some really solid mail armor coifs that have the same appearance as some plate coifs.

Makes sense that when a druid comes out of bear or kitty form they would be naked. Since when does magic apply to clothing when shape shifting.
I just want to be able to hide my shield/mog it to an offhand/select if my one hander sheets on my back or my hip/mog the one handers to two handers that arent the ugly legion artefact weapon
I’d definitely mog all my head gear to cowl of benevolence
I would love for any class to be able to mog any level armor period. Let priests and mages run around in plate looking mogs. What does it hurt anyone?
The only reason I can think of is because in PVP a mage wearing a warrior-looking armor set might throw people off, but for how long really? There’s so many spell effects and stuff that give it away.
At the very least I support OPs proposal.
I would also LOVE if I could collect mogs for other armor types. I have like zero plate mogs because I don’t play any plate classes, but I’ve debated giving warrior a try. I made one and they have NOTHING to wear. It’s awful. It’s a crime! If I could do old raid runs and collect mog appearances off any gear that drops, I’d be so happy.

Also… allow white/grey items to xmog. What’s the point in NOT allowing them?

Well that’s why beneath I put preferably I’d like to see all limitations gone (with the exception of class specifics) because I 100000% agree.

When I use Guardian of the Forgotten Queen my character gets a sick, non-plate mog!

Battlemages, Battlepriests =plate/cloth
Berzerkers, barbarians = chain/leather
Rangers, beast lords = chain/ leather
Monk robes = cloth
There are so many cross armor possibilities. Just let it happen!
And also allow quivers to be transmogged as cloaks like the cosmetic backpacks or let Rhok transmogs automatically include the quiver like the legion artifacts

I think gray/white items should be universal. You pick them up with any class and you get the appearance. The gray/white section of transmog.

Being able to hide a shield would make roll a Paladin Prot so bad haha I hate shields for who knows what reason, a tank who just uses a one handed sword seems dope to me xD
Can totally justify it by saying the light is the paladin’s shield
Turalyon says exactly that since he wields Anduin Lothar’s broken sword - now Lightforged - and doesn’t have a shield. Would be cool to have that as a perma- seraphim thing.
Or! Maybe more like a battlemage thing where the “shield” can either be a physical object, or a “bubble” type light shield.
(I dig shields, though, the physical ones)
I’m against it. I don’t want anymore loosening of transmog restrictions.

That’s a fair(light) take to me. I can appreciate and respect that.

What loosening has there been?
And in such case can you make a defensible case against cloth containing mail/plate or looking entirely like mail/plate armor? Or mail armor looking like plate? Or plate looking like cloth? Pretty sure the tmog I have on now looks like a cloth robe but it’s mail.
They still haven’t even gotten rid of the dumb holiday limitations. I don’t think there’s any chance of them doing this.
