lorewise restrictions dont make sense anymore, so let us just be free now
Class restrictions honestly seem like a relic of poor design decisions made back during early 2000s.
Comparing it to other games these days like FFXIV it feels like an antique. I can’t see one good reason for it, no “MAH LORE” doesn’t count. The same lore that 50%+ of the playerbase seems to skip or not read the quest text of.
If I want lore it should be LORE. It shouldn’t restrict ANYONE’S GAMEPLAY DECISIONS.
I’ve yet to see a streamer litearlly sit there and read through the quest text. The only part of the “LOREEEE” people seem to pay attention to is the FORCED voice acted parts that keep you tethered to Jaina or whatever NPC is yammering as you run from waypoint to waypoint.
“Muh lore” is the weakest excuse for this antiquated system.
Maybe if I saw even one streamer sit there reading through quest text I’d care. But instead I see them using azeroth autopilot to AUTOMATICALLY skip cutscenes or mashing the escape key.
Yes, I would kill for a druid belf and a belf shaman especially.
I could never see a draneai becoming a warlock literally ever. It goes against everything they are and it was used as a tool for their destruction
game already has playable Draenei Shadow Priest, so what exactly is your point
So a Mag’har warlock makes sense to you?
How can one say they are uncorrupted from Fel magic while using Fel magic?
There is a difference between shadow priests and warlocks.
Something called the FEL is a major difference.
Why would you base your feelings of something on what a streamer does or use it for the basis of your argument. They are just people who play the game. You can use the term antiquated and outdated all you want some races don’t mix with some classes.
I’m pretty sure this game is not based off of your feelings.
Is this gonna turn into another thread about Void Elfs vs Blood Elfs?
Taking bets.
That is shadow magic vs fel magic which is completely different. Fel magic destroyed every planet the draenai called home.
Sorry but lore does matter here. Some classes in this game have certain restrictions (druids and shaman being prime examples) and it’s built into the very foundation of the lore. Fel if lore didn’t matter there wouldn’t be websites and YouTube channels dedicated to covering lore and story, it does matter and people do like it, myself included.
Also I doubt streamers are the best gauge of general player engagement, they set out to entertain first and play second.
nothing in this game makes sense and you are trying to make sense of things
Restrict more things on blood elves. Giving them warriors back in Cata was a mistake.
…Unlock everything for dwarves.
On a slightly more serious note: Maybe. But blood elves (and dwarves, yes) already have a wealth of classes compared to some.
Well that is a nice well rebuttal.
Well my example did make sense in that case and there are no draenai warlocks so seems like the lore fits the design decision.
For the record I don’t care if the blood elves become pretty Druids
I’ve yet to see anyone explain to me why they feel that something like a Mag’har Warlock makes sense.
So please, tell me why it makes sense.
(hint: It doesn’t and never will).
Most I’ve seen is folk thinking Draenei look good in warlock armor or wanting to RP actual demons . . . Not the best arguments in my opinion.
Nothing on Mag’har though.
Playing the devils advocate here, but I could see it like the Nightborne. Using the power of the Legion against itself, but that’s reaching at best.
Then again the lore I remember for the orc mage trainer at their starting area was something along the lines of: “Oh I was studying in undercity for a while. Now you can throw fireballs!”
lightforged shadow priest, Void Elves using Holy Magic, leader of Forsaken being a some random somehow lightforged undead, Pandarens staying with the Horde/Alliance for god knows what reason, 100k Demon Hunters all over the world…
…can go on and on about things that dont make sense already gameplaywise and contradict lore, why even bother to try and make sense of what little things you want to in terms of remaining restrictions that dont even matter or will even make a difference
Affliction Warlocks
