When the que for dungeons, or raids, or anything else reaches wait times of 45 minutes, 1 hour or more, it can become… displeasing to constantly have to move every 10 minutes or so to prevent being automatically disconnected, because not everyone has the willingness or desire to do quests or other activities while waiting for the dungeon finder to get a group together.
I think it is easy to implement and can make for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience for other players.
And before someone says that this will lead to people actually afk-ing in a que and not readying up when the check is made, know that this is already happening a lot and personally I think they should introduce severe penalties for declining a que. 5 people wait an hour or more for a que then someone simply declines and resets everything; when this happens the person who declined should be prevented from starting another such que for 4 hours because he wasted an hour of each player’s time. But this is another topic.
I actually forgot that queueable content exists.
Are ques for dps roles that bad? I only ever que for something if there is the bonus bag for tanking, and only for dungeons so I can just plow through it.
Right in this moment I am in a 100 minute que (I am dps), waiting for a level 90+ dungeon to start.
The fastest way to level from 90-100 is the bonus objectives in Draenor, thats why the que is so long, because no one is leveling through those dungeons.
I know, but sometimes I get exhausted after playing for many hours and just want to take a break by doing something else other than grinding (such as watching videos, reading the forums, and so on until the que is ready). 20-30 min dungeon, 20-30 min “break” essentially. But having to constantly alt-tab back into the game to move to prevent afk while in que can get annoying and serves no purpose.
EDIT: And the long ques, such as the one I am in right now, also happen at higher levels. I’ve had plenty of situations when I was queing for Darkshore Warfront and was wating in excess of 40 minutes. But I do agree with you that this happens more often at such levels, like 90-100.
It also doesnt help that you are trying to get grouped for anything at this time of day. The problem is simply that there are no players trying to do that specific type of content that you are waiting for. I get the need for a break or the frustration of having to keep checking back, but the simple solution is just knowing when to give up on something.
You could do a bonus objective, watch netflix and do another bonus objective. Just no one does Draenor dungeon content. Even as a tank or healer the queue is awfully long.

Whenever I level a toon through that level bracket, I que up for dungeons as well, but that is only to give me a change of pace and scenery from the bonus objectives and few quests that need to be done. I would never rely on dungeon ques to level up regardless of role because I am just too impatient to not do anything, and hate waiting.
The que time really doesn’t bother me. Quite the contrary, I somewhat like longer que times because I can refresh my mind with something else. If I know I am going into a 2 hour que, because of the level and time of day and other factors, I leave the game on and study for my university a bit. When the game is ready, I start the dungeon and everything is fine. But I find it very annoying to constantly have to reach for the keyboard or alt-tab into the game when there shouldn’t be a reason to do so.
