Remove addons

Addons are a crutch for bad game design. If you need addons to perform core functions effectively in game, that addon should be a core component of the game. (DBM etc).

Addons negate the need to play the game or provide an unfair advantage (questie, restedxp, weakauras, GSE, TSM etc).

Many promote and nurture toxicity (WCL, Spy etc).

They create a greater barrier to entry for new players (addon bloat required for raiding or pvp is huge).

Anything that is required should be adapted into the core of the game and anything that is useful also should be adapted into the core.

Addons have been making this game worse as time goes on. Raids are designed around addons for some stupid reason. Pvp is unplayable without 5+ addons all over your screen. Gearscore and similar addons were / are toxic and promote elitism and gatekeeping.

Inc hate, I don’t care. This is my opinion, and it’s a large reason why this game isn’t as appealing as it was before the addon bloat we now have. It was also a problem way back in vanilla (decursive, healbots etc).

I agree addons are bad for the game. We should still be able to log though so I know which players to avoid.

I disagree, logging is also leaving a toxic stain on the game. It’s also not infallible (paying for carries etc).

I think it should just be easier to replace bad players so it isn’t as punishing to your run.

And if you don’t need to worry about getting a 90+ parse it won’t hurt if the run takes 10 mins longer. You’ll only care about having truly bad players in your run.

Recount does a great job showing who’s doing what.
Never had use logs to determine who was pulling their weight.

Theres no need for advanced logging in SoD. It’s very simple content and if theres issues with the majority not being able to clear blizzard needs better tuning. It shouldn’t matter if someone is doing 10-20% more dps.

Would you suggest groups removing players once they see their performance on Details (recount is garbage) or deny them entry by checking logs?

What about those of us that like going for rank 1 or 99% parses? I like to know how much better I’m doing than other people.

If theres no logging would you replace someone for being a slight inconvenience? Or only if they’re truly bad and wiping you.

Ya we should remove addons and then in a month or so they can consolidate down to one server. It will be great!

Get your ego boost on a game that actually requires skill.

The game was much more popular in a time before logging existed.

What if all the logs were private so only the player could see their percentile and nothing else? Then low performers wouldn’t feel bad and other people couldn’t check them.

That doesn’t answer my question…

Would you rather remove someone in the group when you realize they’re not performing to your standards, or deny them entry before having them join?

Everyone would just ask for screenshots or some other degen crap lol.

Remove them, if they are an actual detriment to completion. I’m not a psycho though, so if my run takes like 15mins longer or I need to explain a few mechanics, I would not consider them a detriment to my run.

We could just remove people who don’t like add ons. Would probably have a better effect on the game.

Now you’ve wasted your groups time. You’re either going a man down or telling that person you benched earlier to get back on.

Being able to vet members of a group before you commit to raid is highly advantageous.

Don’t worry it’s going that way, soon it will be all chatgpt bots.

Hence my suggestion to make it easier to replace a player. It shouldn’t be punishing to replace someone, that’s bad game design.

And look how great it is for the MMO as a whole. Classic is the most toxic game out there now.

You underestimate how bad players can truly be. How do you know you’re just not replacing one for another?

Your ignorance is evident. You have never led a group of players in this game.

No in the almost 20 years of me playing this game in some capacity, I’m still yet to experience leadership. /s

Pot calling the kettle black.

Yet you’re acting like raid leaders are beating players back with sticks because there are so many of them…

This is due to game design. If they made it so you wouldn’t get locked to an I.D the stakes would be lower and more people will be willing to join mid run.
