Removal from the drop down menu means you cant uninstall

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/installed-beta-client-for-stress-test-now-the-beta-tab-is-removed-and-cant-uninstall/188796?u=treuburch-korgath

i tested this as well; you cant uninstall it; and like this linked post says its not viable to just delete the folder as it does not have the “data” folders present so you cant tell what is what between classic and retail. Just putting this here so more people can discuss about it since alot of us cant post in the classic beta forums.

WoW has always had a minimal install footprint on things like the Registry, but I know deleting the underscore folders seems to have a weird error.

yeah, wonder why they only allow it through the launcher.

Primarily because the launcher is the support structure for the Blizzard Agent which is scanning your active threads to find cheating apps while you play WoW.

You actually CAN completely delete wow by deleting the folder. It has never had an intrusive installation.

Wouldn’t you have to delete the whole shared data folder as well to ensure the classic files are gone?

You would but it would cause you to have to re-install parts of retail or you would log in to certain things missing most likely so it taxes your computer more and can cause fragmentation.

I’m going to assume that not uninstalling it will allow for a couple things.

  1. Later stress tests won’t need to be re-downloaded/installed if you get re-invited (maybe that’s an indicator that current stress testers will be picked for future ones too with new testers added in?)

  2. It could possibly be that the same installation will be used (just modified/updated) to install Classic faster when it goes live.

This is all just a guess of course.

I’m no developer but if I were, I’d probably just have the release version of Classic remove all instances of the beta before installing the final version.
