Hi guys !
First of all : Relax, everyone — this is just for fun, just a silly thought.
But what if… Arthas returned through the Wrath of the Lich King Remix?
How?
Here’s the lore:
The remix expansion begins, events unfold, and at some point Arthas senses that we carry a strange aura — a kind of magic that doesn’t belong to that time. He notices weapons, armor, and spells he has never seen before… and orders a few of his knights, maybe some San’layn, to investigate.
He secretly plots that when the heroes of this “strange Azeroth” come to face him — which was always part of his plan — he’ll let them attack him… let them come with their strange white-and-black dragons, at least one of them.
When they reach the top of his fortress, at the start of the confrontation, Arthas gathers his power and freezes everyone solid, as hard as he can.
Tirion tries to do the same move as before — but this time, Arthas drives his blade through the ice before Tirion can break free, killing him and ending any chance of reverse the battle.
Then he uses a death grip to pull in the temporal black’n white dragon and kills it. Immediately after, he raises the dragon ressurecting him… and commands him to open a portal to the timeline where he, Arthas, was killed, since he already knew about this story thanks to the San’layn having captured one of those dragons earlier, or some spy thing.
He resurrects Tirion, commands him to fight us, corrupts his sword with death magic, and then steps through the portal — back into our current reality.
The battle continues against the corrupted Tirion, and then… Arthas manages to escape the remix and return to our world once again.
It would be a very bold move from Blizzard to do something like this — just a personal thought, a fun “what if.”
So…that’s it…
I imagined what could happen afterward… and to avoid turning it into a full WotLK 2.0, I think the story could take a different direction:
After returning to our Azeroth, Arthas goes to Icecrown and takes control of the Scourge that had gone rampant. He learns about everything that has happened up to that point. He realizes that uniting everyone through death isn’t viable anymore — the heroes are too strong, the plan already failed, and he understands the contradictions of Shadowlands and the Helm of Domination.
So, he creates a new plan: to rebuild his army as much as possible and propose a pact with the living — he would control the Scourge as long as the living help him fight the Legion (which had always been his original goal, but through death).
And just like that, we would gain an “ally” against the forces of the Legion.
