I’m just going to say, I am level 25 already and I’m totally blown away at how much fun this is.
I won’t even delve further into it… Its actually one of the best times I’ve had playing wow in a very long time. Very well designed… Excellent fkn job.
(not a paid ad for the game but yeah I’m pretty much loving this)
I get so excited when I pick up a random stat for the cloak. It just appears over my toon and I get to go ‘+1 stam? I’ll be a tank soon enough! [continues to warlock around]’
There’s also something nice about the sound of picking up bronze.
Having fun. Can’t wait to go through faster with alts and all.
You’d better hope that some massive bug fixes come out in the next day or so though. Once you reach the level ~50-ish range the LFR Throne of Thunder content has its fair share of comically broken mechanics. Iron Qon is one-shotting the entire raid once his second dog activates, and by “one-shotting” I mean “Storm Cloud is hitting players for dozens of millions of damage and they have ~30-50k HP” levels of one-shotting.
The questing stuff is awesome and I liked the earlier group content, but the level scaling at high levels renders group content unplayable right now once you hit level ~50 or so and this has QUICKLY ruined the event for me.
The MoP experience in general was incredibly good - interesting storytelling, well crafted and beautiful zones… it was the peak of WoW design in many respects. It’s not at all unsurprising that it makes for a good leveling experience still today.
I find the management of all the sockets a bit finicky but it’s not exactly terrible, and the abilities add at least a little bit of interest too. I dont feel like we need more abilities at this state in WoW, but still… they arent bad.
There was a small but vocal “but mah kingfupandas in mah wow” crowd that managed to convince themselves they were bigger than they were, but in reality so many people just hang out and played in MoP… it was just a fun setting all around.
I wish it had come out when I was going through a “WoW brain” month where I am login in every day. It came out right when I was dehyping from WoW, barely playing it.
I’m loving it so far as well. I enjoy how the entire expansion story is organized in a more digestible number of chapters that are easy to follow. The powers are really fun, especially mix and matching class abilities. It’s definitely a hit so far for me.
I took a look at the vendors last night and regretted it… So many things. SO many.
I made a bizzaro version of Kaioon, a man’ari warrior who has a golden version of his transmog and uses SMF with the fel-dipped golden hammer transmog from Tomb of Sargeras. That’s fun.
I plan to hit it hard this weekend. The recolor of the trading post class set and weapons is the goal.
That’s one thing I appreciate in Diablo 4. At this point with all of the Lilith Shrines and Rep rewards we start a new character with like 10 levels worth of skill points and then like a couple hours in we’re already like half-way through our base skill build.
Then the new Codex system and the new Iron Wovles system funnels a good amount of leggos to get going - still leaves enough room for leveling to feel impactful but we’re having fun out of the gate rather than auto-attacking stuff.
Personally i am having a blast. The way you get threads and it just goes into the cloak is really nice. Blowing crap up at light speed is great and i feel so OP even at lvl 20. Is it the same as it was originally as far as story, sure but that has been known for quite awhile.
Overall i give it a B+ so far, i have only gotten to lvl 20 and i wish mobs dropped more than 1 bronze per mob and i wish i could collect it even faster BUT i also realize i haven’t done any research yet and at lvl 20 i have almost 2k already just from quests and pickups that i blow up.
As an altaholic that has 50+ toons at cap it’s definitely something new and fun to play. I will almost certainly do a second toon because your starting cloak is even more powerful with the second toon you level but i will also probably just farm mostly with this first toon at level cap while leveling my other toon before the event is over.
I do hope they bring something like this for other expansions such as WotLK in the future. However i would like to see other class/race combinations open as the big one for me that i will be creating 3-6 new ones of is Paladin when it’s finally open to all (Night Elf, Gnome and Mechagnome).
Lastly i wish there was a way for toons to swap factions as i would love to create a Vulpera but i just can’t do it because i just hate playing Horde. All but 3 of my characters are Alliance and if they ever actually open High Elves (like possibly in the last Titan or whereever they will do whatever is coming for the Elves and Quel Thalas) 2 of them will probably swap to Alliance from Blood Elf/Horde. And if they ever do allow faction swap my 1 Tauren will swap too. Just can’t play Horde anymore at all after BfA and SL, just can’t do the murder hobo thing.
Anyways, MoP Remix is a big win as far as i’m concerned and i am enjoying it a ton, looking forward to exploring where i can take the gear and how OP it can get. Also nice to farm for new xmog and get new titles and mounts along the way.
I copied this over from another thread but i thought it was accurate here in a review thread more so than a complaining thread.
While leveling I don’t think it’s really going to feel too different, other than being able to ‘raid’ during the leveling process for a change and being in MoP, which is probably not most players’ choice for Chromie Time. The rest…I mean, even in normal retail we kinda tear through mobs while leveling up, so it’s not like Remix is providing a ‘new’ experience there. Not for a first character, anyway; once the cloak’s powered up, leveling more characters will definitely be an experience and max-level play should be quite interesting.
It’s great to be having fun, but I’m not giving Remix credit for doing things it’s actually not doing just because it’s slightly different. lol
