Haha! Funny.
I’m struggling to do 500k DPS in the open world AND I’m insanely squishy. I can’t quest in Heroic open world. I’m about 620 item level. I can’t survive it.

All three are identical in terms of power. You upgrade one, it upgrades them all.
Unless your damage is tied to your weapon damage, it’s just identical stat sticks with different names.
I’ve been queing for healing to accelerate progress & since it’s a brief remix, I do what I can as healer. Definitely ignore the demanding players & expect to be left behind occasionally, although I focus on more objectives for the long run. There are benefits to playing Tank & Healer, it’s definitely not their role😜
Heroic Open World might have some affect on the population of healers in Remix, sure.
But it’s greatly overshadowed by the fact that it’s remix and everyone will be soloing all of that content in a couple weeks when they have more power. M+ groups are already all tanks.
Turns out healers don’t bother healing in content that’s not designed to need healers after the first 5% of its runtime.
We’ll never know how much Heroic Open World impacted things because Remix being Remix impacts things first and to a much larger degree.
Also, honestly, people who refuse to ever touch an offspec despite their role being bad at solo gameplay are frustrating. Sorry. If it doesn’t work then use something else and swap back to your main thing for more important content. This isn’t 2004 anymore, you can change specs at no penalty and with no limits. You aren’t playing a Resto Druid, you’re playing a Druid.
If you acknowledge that it’s bad and put up with it and push through? Cool, that’s fine.
If you acknowledge that it’s bad and refuse to use something that isn’t? Nah, that’s on you.
The game can’t be designed around healers running around in solo content. Not the whole game anyway.
(They could stand to do closer to Tank damage, but that’s a general issue and not a Remix issue)
Doesn’t every class with a heal spec, also have a DPS or tank spec? I get your primary role decision, but a backup is never a bad thing, particularly if you’re out to do solo content.
I main a feral Druid, and occasionally I run up on something that’s just too much. Send in the Bear! And it’s dead.
I keep a heal spec ready to go and queue up as both tank and heals for whichever one pops fastest. So far I haven’t seen a need for healing in LFR or normal dungeons. I did have one ugly issue with people leaving tentacles alive which kept repeat killing me and a few others (also healers) so we never got to see any bosses. That was annoying since you can’t take the portal while in combat.
I’ve found that heroic outdoor content can get too hard for a dps spec which is why my feral turned guardian. When the scaling got too bad around 76 I dropped back into normal mode.
Best content is healerless content.
The problem is that healers can’t maintain their resources long enough to kill a lot of stuff in HWT. Fjordun for example, with just one mechanic and when they aren’t given a random affix buff, took a raid group full of what appeared to be halfway decently geared 80s longer to take down than a full fledged mythic raid boss.
The problem is less that it’s challenging (one shots aren’t challenging, they’re just cheap as far as that argument goes), it’s that everything’s nothing more than a glorified meat shield. I’m not of the mindset that the sky is falling because this is the first iteration of what may become a permanent feature in the not too distant future, but there needs to be a serious tuning pass with regard to the sheer absurdity of the HP values. I’m sure this can become a nifty feature in the futue, it’s just that it isn’t there yet.
Regarding that Fjordun fight, I had time to answer nature’s call, make a BLT sammich, and grab my Big Train mint mocha mix, mix it up with milk in a large bubba keg using a handheld turbo blender, clean the blender, saunter up the stairs back into my bedroom, and still have time get comfy and then finally tag the mob myself (I was stealthed out of the way). That level of tediousness is unacceptable for what is supposed to be world content. But since I view Legion Remix as a sort of test bed for future features, be it for retail or classic, or even improving the catch-up experience for new/returning players, I’m not too concerned. Yet.
100% yes unless you are level 71-74.
Why would anyone be doing anything you can queue for in Remix outside of the few hours it takes to hit the level cap?
Sure it can. Give heals splash damage on aoe mobs.
It’s a remix, why not?
You don’t need healers or tanks unless you’re doing open world HT. I went Veng DH in dungeons and a gaggle of various Retadins (I could call them something else but it’ll get me a forum vacation) were just hue hue hue running ahead and getting clapped in the face with everything but not dying. Content is laughable in Remix. It’s always been laughable. Get a friend to DPS or tank stuff for you, voila, problem solved.
Literally leveled a boomkin, and it’s more survivable than Feral as far as DPS. If you can do marginal damage and heal yourself/mitigate, HT isn’t hard. The fact there’s always 10,000 people in the zone who come in to share credit helps, too.
You’re needed as tanks/healers in Retail. In Remix, it’s all DPS with extra steps/slower pace to kill things. I did the Loremaster on 1 char, and literally just dungeon spammed the other alts.
Personally, I always level Druids as Guardian. I can kill 30 mobs in basically the same amount of time that I can kill one mob, so the increased XP is way faster leveling in that way.
