I would like to rant and be extremely toxic and negative at the decision to reset the action bars. Unfortunately I am the type of person who can’t readily cut loose like that. So please pretend I said something scathing and awful about that decision and be suitably rebuked.
I will be spending the next few days resetting dozen’s of hotbars and getting them ready to play again.
Action Bar Saver would be a huge lifesaver unfortunately it does not work anymore, too far out of date. Got it to save profiles but not load them.
BTWloadouts may work, setting that up to try.
I hate having hotbars reset when a gear update is done. This seems to be effectively the same thing. It drove me crazy getting all my hotbars set up again on most of my various alts after the prepatch. If it makes a difference, I do use Bartender.
I do use an addon to help save hotbar layouts, MySlot, but it’s still annoying having to copy and paste the hotbar setup every single time. MySlot does make the process much faster for me.

I bet this is nice when you roll a class you’ve already played once.
Not having to set up Shaman bars a second time would make things much easier.
Mine got wiped. Talents as well.
I also use bartender.

Ok, confirmed.
BTW Loadouts takes a little setup but works like a charm if you have other characters of the same class to copy from. It can get talents, actionbars, and even the flight bar all at once.

Blizz this is the single most annoying thing you could’ve possible done during the conversion … I had close to twenty Remix characters and now I gotta redo ALL of their actionbars … why would you do this? Why? What harm would there be if some obsolete and unusable abilities remained on our actionbars?

That’s the main way I use it. Luckily I have a toon of every class on my primary server that I log in enough to avoid the gear update option, so I always have a toon I can copy hotbars from.
The export option in MySlot contains text that can be copied into a text file if you decide to take a long break (long enough that Blizz gives your main the option for a gear update).
Honestly, I barely even learned to play some of these characters the first time around, thanks to the quick leveling. I added a whole bunch of talent points every 10 levels or so according to Icy-Veins, threw spells on as acquired, and dropped some of my timerunners the second they hit max.
So now I get to set them up all over again for retail? Ugh. Most of them will just sit anyway until I need them to farm for mounts, by which time I’m sure Blizzard will have done another class overhaul and half their talents will be reset again…
I just discovered this and it saved me redoing 11 characters and it works as a backup too.

So it works without logging into the character?
It’s also on Wago for those that prefer Wago over Curse https://addons.wago.io/addons/myslot
This will make me too anxious to log in to my Remix toons.
Not that I’m aware of. I log into the character I want to copy the hotbar layout from, open MySlot, and hit export. I copy the text generated from the export. Then I log into the character I want to copy the hotbars to, open MySlot, copy in the text, and hit import.

I didn’t try that. I logged in to a non ReMix characters with the class and spec I needed and exported then imported on ReMix characters.
You can also create saves on MySlot so you don’t have to copy and paste.
Good to know. How do you do that?
I have always disliked the action bar reset part of gear update, to the point where I simply won’t use it, no matter how ancient the character. I’m hoping peoples’ reactions to it happening with Remix characters will spur them into re-examining the action bar reset part of boosts as a whole >_<

Open MySlot at the top click New then choose a name. Next click export followed by Save. On other characters then just choose from the Drop-down list on the top left and click import. This needs to be done for each class and spec.
