Yeah, it was so fun & immersive to have every one-trick-pony Holy Paladin running around in the same cloth/leather caster robes & offhands instead of plate/shields. At least Cata was finally smart enough to give classes a good incentive to use their intended armor type (& itemize properly for it), instead of having all the casting/healing classes fighting over the same cloth drops & DEing everything else. Having more than one Resto Druid show up for a 40 man raid was also great fun, so that we could take turn overwriting each others HoT spells. I could go on with a lot more examples, but won’t bother. The poor spec/class/ability designs & gear itemization had nothing to do with class homogenization.
most of that is player driven decisions. Unless you are doing Naxx i dont see a point in minmaxing vanilla. parcing in a 20 year old game… lol when i think of viable. i dont think of the best all around. I think of functional and doable.
Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinions, & I won’t stoop to your level & try to insult you for them. Have a good one.
That’s fair and im honestly sorry i insulted you.
Nope, original Wrath was great.
hahahahahahahahahaha
This is so absolutely a myth perpetuated by a very vocal minority because most people have moved on with their lives and only came back to classic to remember the good times.
Cata completely redesigned the entire world. It redesigned all classes. It fully embraced achievement farming as endgame content rather than an afterthought like it was originated with the emergence of achievements in games on the xbox.
I dinged max level and killed the final boss of the entire xpac on second attempt in raid finder. The game was over right as it began.
Cata was so rushed it was unreal. The voice actors were terrible compared to the talent that existed before. There were numerous typos in quests when I had never seen any before. They invented the daily grind hamster wheel that was integral to the game rather than a side quest for more hardcore players. They forged casual players into fake meta players to shove them into endgame content which was originally only reached by (I believe the original statements were something around) 1% of the playerbase ever reached.
The fun adventuring was only present for whatever grinding was possible. Players did not do adventurous things together anymore. The game literally died. They should have called it WoW 2, but they had begun exploiting the fanbase and product which caused people to wake up over the course of several xpansions.
MoP was an entirely different disaster that only captures players because of charm that shouldn’t even really be in the game. Pandas were easter eggs in WC3. No sane person ever expected them to become lore. They were capitalizing on the market popularity of Kung Fu Panda, a new juggernaut franchise reigniting animated movies. It was an absurdly cheap ploy at targeting a new audience. They converted them to shut-ins with WoD and garrisons to suit their anti-social growth coinciding in their waking life with phone addiction.
It’s a personal opinion.
Only thing I play for are raids and class design, wrath - mop had the best class design peaking in mop before it started getting ruined in wod
Of course the class designs are going to become more streamlined. The Demon Hunter class plays like a Moba hero with no energy management, just cd based rotations with high mobility and situational avoidance.
If you like every class being able to do everything and having very poor class augmentation, then that’s cool if it’s what you like.
I like smooth fun rotations, which is what started in wrath and was finished in mop
MoP survival, shadow, and demo lock were some of the most fun specs ever.
I like for the game to drive itself so I can watch streams.
If we’re talking the game driving itself, that’s original vanilla when you didn’t even need to think about who to dispel because addons were more powerful then anything we have now.
Addons that could select spell ranks for you.
that’s understandable people like a more casually experiance. i mean that’s why i play the sims 4.
Yes, because raiding heroic was so casual in wrath cata and mop
DER DER DER DER
Those people using those addons are just as braindead as you retail players are now. They don’t know the difference between a mana user class and a non-mana user class and will dispell based on whatever order they are in the raid rather than priority.
Honestly personally believe all addons should be banned.
they make the game too easy, but i feel like it wouldnt be fair to disabled people. so idk. i just think addons are they bane of wows existance.
I just use addons to make the ui not look like trash.
However there was a quest in vanilla that dealt with chen stormstout; in the barrens.
Yeah, an easter egg. He was an optional hero easter egg in a bonus campaign in WC3 TFT. He was a bonus on top of a bonus. The original campaign didn’t have an Orc component. The bonus orc campaign played like an RPG where you could accidentally stumble upon Chen and pick him up as an optional 3rd hero. It wasn’t a primary quest.
I’m not going to lie i like the design of the pandas i never had a problem with stuff like that really, just the changes to the overall games concepts.
