Reminder best expansion added a new class

And the worst ones added nothing.

Warlords of Draenor and Shadowlands.

Whatever we get shown in 2 weeks, this is going to be my take if it sucks or not.

New classes, new specs and new races are important for a growing game.

Yeah 4 zones, 4 world bosses, 8 dungeons and 1 raid is /yawn

Probably because it’s a measure of the amount of effort going into the beginning of an expansion, not necessarily because of the new class. Dragonflight had a new class, and is being received lukewarmly at best.

I’ll tolerate new races, but no more new classes. Add some new specs to the classes we have.

Thankfully if the xpac cycle is anything to go off of, we won’t be getting one for at least two expansions.

Well, you’re going to be disappointed. They are not going to add a new class 2 x-packs in a row.

We don’t need new classes or races, we have enough.

What we need is more work into the actual content itself .

I think new races are fine. Unlike classes they don’t break anything.

I’m cool with not getting a new class for many years.

Yeah I guess races aren’t bad, depending on what races they would choose, but we’re definitely good on classes.

Honestly always hated this idea cause people just suggest destroying full dps classes by giving them tank/ healer specs.

We’ve already seen making a support spec completely makes the other dps spec entirely obsolete

Evoker came at the end of SL while Warlords did nothing but remove stuff from game.

Blizzard really used the GOAT expansion (MoP) to sell on us a garbage fire of an expansion (WoD). Whenever someone mentions how many subs WoD had, they conveniently leave out that MoP got us there.

I don’t think anyone uses this as an example for anything good.

We all know what WoD was the first expac to lose almost half its subscribers in the first year. That loss was so big that it caused Blizzard to stop reporting sub numbers.

new races and/or WAAAAY MORE customization for the ones we have.

The game doesn’t need a new class and race. It needs a much better story and a major content revamp to bring the old world back to life.

Adding a new continent only means the only new content is in those zones which means 3-4 months worth of gameplay that always ends up with half that time doing nothing but raids and dailies. That garbage cycle needs to end as it only leads to an ever more declining population.

The game needs open world zone events. Those can be added in literally every zone in the game and would do more to bring the world to life, give content that is ongoing, free us from being trapped in a raid to be done 10k times and more importantly, bring the existing world back to life.

That last part is needed for WoWs future, which is that the new player experience needs to be saved because as is, a new player is far unlikely to stay because its a royal mess and those that actually get out of the trap that is being pushed into a later expansion, sees nothing but a dead world. This leads to WoW having no future at all other than a constantly dwindling player-base.

A thing veterans need to actually do some thinking about instead of hoping for more expansions bringing the same downtrend.

It feels like Blizzard is just putting all their eggs into the m+ and raiding basket.

I haven’t had fun as a solo player since BfA.

And people keep telling me there’s plenty of solo stuff to do but in SL and DF it’s just a tedious chore to fill a bar. For what? A mount that has 5 to 10 recolors? They even killed that fun for me with the mount bloat. I’m about to hit 700 and that will get me the next two achievements that will come out in 8 years (going off history.)

Shadowlands had a ton of in world content, it just got over shadowed by the horrid macro story. Micro stories were good. I enjoyed the heck out of s1 and nathria. One of the best PVE environments we had in a long time excluding late raid legendaries that locked out the LFR crowd for 1.5-2 months.

Korthia was terrible but I liked how condensed it was. Getting the crafting mats on Alts once a week was also steady gold.

ZM made me a metric ton of money (I was making almost 100k/hour for a week straight). Only redeeming quality there lol.

EXPANSION FEATURE: BETTER STORY

So a bunch of bursting dreams that are ghost towns and incredibly hard to solo.

Honestly pushing new players from Exiles reach into dragonflight isn’t terrible.

It’s a lot more streamlined than shadowlands or bfa

WoD will always be my favorite expansion. I am forever chasing the feeling of the world PvP scene on Emerald Dream during WoD.

Another thing I dislike this time around as a solo player is all the popup events on timers.

You can’t just go do the content you’re interested at the time you want… you have to wait for the raid on shadowbane keep to start, or for researchers underfire to start, or for dream portals, fryak flyovers, time rifts, community feasts, grand hunts and what have you. And all of these can also be derailed very quickly if not enough people show up.

I don’t enjoy this type of design at all and is one of the things I actually hated about GW2, having to keep track of all the timers on a third party site just to know when to play.

I hate to say it but I think it’s yet another development choice designed to keep us logged on longer. All that waiting for the next opportunity to actually do the content. I really detest being manipulated like that.

I don’t have anywhere near as large a collection as you and I’m already completely apathetic to recolours and overwhelmed by own collections. I can’t imagine how much worse it must feel at over 700!

There was a time where I looked forward to the weekly reset. Excited about it. “This will be the week I finally get [insert mount here].”

Now I just don’t care. I’m at 680 (the Armory count has always been wrong so ignore the 719 it’s showing) and I’ll probably get the next 20 mounts from the TP.

I don’t think new races/classes have anything to do with whether an expansion is good or not. When people complain about WoD and SL, they don’t say, “you know what would save this expac? A new race/class!” Likewise, BfA sucked too (and Cata before the bar for sucking dropped so low) despite having new races.

What makes a good expansion isn’t the bells and whistles but the actual quality of the gameplay loop. They can add loads of new races but if they tack a crappy borrowed power system onto the whole expansion, then it’s gonna suck. A new skin for our characters won’t save it.
