Remembering what was

I hope this ends up being an important lesson for you. Don’t make decisions out of frustration and anger. Wait to cooldown so that you can make more rational decisions.

A WoW account is a small price to pay for this lesson.

It was very explicit when I signed off on my old account. Sure, it had progress from 2016 but I did it because I went full throttle in the game and it nearly cost me my real life job.

It’s strange, but having done that has allowed me to put the game down and not stay up till 4 am obsessed over one final raid attempt.

Don’t regret my decision. It gave me a healthy perspective. 2020 was a bad year. Almost as as bad as 2001 and 1995. I digress.

Just a game. Your attitudes and opinions change. What was true then, isn’t now. They’ve lost a lot too and had to regain a lot of trust. I’ve read about the progress they are making; they’ve hired people to address the old issues.

Also WB to the OP

Not really. I might not have had that much luck with all the lockdowns and whatnot, but I did make some good friends during that year.

I do admit, everyone especially all the women were really aggro back on wow back then, and at the time I just dismissed them as angry old harpies carrying on about nothing, so left for FF14 for much of that time, it was only in 2021 when the Blizzard scandal was revealed, I realized oh my God, women in this game actually HAVE been treated like absolute trash,

So I think we need to keep taking steps to make sure women feel respected and equals in this game, deleting all the pervy flirts and removing the rude emotes is a start, but I admit I was seeing some pretty sexist comments being spewed back and forth in Zereth Mortis the other day.

I was thinking to myself maybe I should tell someone about this, but I admit I couldn’t be bothered reporting it as I find the reporting feature too complicated.

You are totally right. Yes there were things that you can’t get anymore in the game but at the end of the day, they are just vanity things that don’t hinder game play in the slightest and don’t keep me from raiding. I was remembering what I had but going forward I see what I did and if blizzard ever goes down that road again I will erase everything again and not look back. I’m just glad they are cleaning up. 2020 was a very bad year, lost some close people.
