Remembering those who were gone 20 years ago

In 2 days, the 20th anniversary of 9/11 will occur. Crazy how vivid it is most people’s minds and yet was so long ago.

Where were you when it happened and how old were you?

I was 6 years old when it happened. I was at my house and my mom was crying, I asked her what’s wrong and that she said the twin towers collapsed. That was the first time I heard “Twin Towers” ( I was a little kid, I was largely ignorant of the world). My mom turned on the news and I saw 2 tall buildings engulfed in smoke. I thought that the buildings had a mechanical error or something. The next day my parents told me it was a terrorist attack, I never knew what a terrorist attack was before but now as a 26-year-old, it is something I am used to hearing a lot.

What were you doing when it happened?

Please keep it civil.

I was 13 years old when 9/11 happen. I was at my high school at my social study class until one my class mate from other room downstairs came to my room and said something about Trade Tower is on fire. When came down stair to see what was going there it was one of trade towers was on fire. there some speculation that plane must malfunction and crashes into the tower but…Then I saw 2nd plane went into the tower, I know that point on, it was no accident. We watched the towers fell, seeing people running and jump off building. It brought me sadness and rage as watches people in middle east were celebrating this moment. I wanted them dead I wanted them to suffer as those lives were lost.
Today, I felt young people here in US don’t really care anymore about 9/11. Perhaps they were too young to understand what happen. But after withdrawal in Afghanistan I felt, sacrifice were in vein and those terrorist will have safe place to grow and to plot their next attack aganist western world.
