Remembering the lingo of Vanilla

Here’s a little something I found that could be useful. Check it out:

Can’t post links…replace “DOT” with a period…obviously…

Dude, that’s some Freddie Prince Jr. would say in a 90s chick flick. The “bag of chips” line. You’re going way back now.

Lol.

I started playing a First Person Shooter, Call of Duty, for the first time since like 2007. My buddies decided to make their clan name “1337.” And I thought “Isn’t that kind of cliche?” Then they reminded me, that a lot of the guys playing the CoD weren’t around when people used “Leetspeak.” I felt very alienated from the younger generation of gamers at that point.

I suspect it varied from server to server. On my first server, it was DM until you were of level to do Dire Maul, then it became VC.

Definitely a server thing. I never once heard Deadmines referred to as VC until I saw an argument on the forums. Dire Maul was always referred to by which wing. People didn’t just do Dire Maul; they did DM:E, DM:W or DM:N. (Or even referred to the one as Tribute Run.)

Bingo. Everyone who called it VC was late to the party ;P.

You are remembering a dream you had, of course it wasn’t.

Does anyone remember PIHB? That was pretty popular on the old forums back in the day.

Every alliance NElf Hunter named some variant of Legolas. XxLegolasxX, Legolass, Leggolass, Llegolas, you get the idea.

I remember one getting creative and naming himself, Legomyegolas.

Lol.

I started November 24, 2004. It is DM. You take your VC back to your home…

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Burning Blade US or EU? Horde or Alliance?

Male ones, perhaps.

This one’s from around September 2006.

on aerie peak. we had a meme that lasted for 3 xpacs. WTB … 11c.

the 11c part. not sure who started it but it died out eventually when alot of the vanilla players started to quit.

To this day, I still refuse to acknowledge, must less group with anyone who types “ne1” instead of “anyone”.
