I was currently enjoying swtor (with its way more fun classes and pvp tbh) and while reading the forums I read a very interesting post about"exclusives", something that blizzard loves doing aka removing old content so new players cant get it
"You want a prize just because you got here first? Again with the “muh exclusives” crap… Nobody cares what exclusive stuff you have, or how exclusively cool you look, or whatever. If you love PvE and the Star Wars world (like i do) just play your game and dont make your satisfaction depend on what others have or dont have.
Exclusives aka “uniques” are just a means to bragging rights, and they are petty and sad. You played this game for so long, you enjoyed it (i suppose, otherwise you wouldnt pay) and that’s the point. This is a game, and everyone is allowed to have fun, we already have the real world full classism and elitism."
It quite accurately describes the players who vehemently defend the removal of old content even though it is a proven fact it was not really challenging and many people got it through means that removed all challenge, whenever it be carries or just overgearing the mage towers.
However…while we might admit that it’s dumb, we have to be self aware enough to admit people will still want it. Exclusives, and bragging rights are what a lot of players log in for. At least sub-consciously. Why else would someone do the mage-tower 20+ times. Giving away those exclusives would be taking something away from a lot of people
Something being no longer attainable doesn’t make the game unplayable or anything, though. There are plenty of things in this game that I will never have, and that’s fine.
Perfect example really, it isnt about achieving anything, it isnt about prestige, it is about manipulating the weak willed in order to stay because they will be afraid of losing rewards.
It is a completely unethical and manipulative system, sadly many people lack the critical thinking to realize this and instead defend this because their feelings and self worth are tied to the exclusives leading to such extreme vehement defense.
Or maybe people are just grateful for what they have and don’t spend their time focusing it on the past and appreciate the things they do have? You are trying to come at this from a moral high ground when really its selfish entitlement/demands for instant gratification that’s been eroding most MMOs.
If you treat the game like Hoarder Simulator 2020 those few pixels you can’t have out of a million would really weigh on you heavily I suppose.
Another crybaby who wants free stuff because they didn’t have the ability to get it when it was current and known to be available for a limited amount of time.
The message I copied in the OP clearly show that the only people who want the hoarder simulator 2020 are the ones who defend exclusives, if they simply wanted to enjoy the game, they wouldnt be so vehemently defending such manipulative systems because their ego depends on them aka they ve been hooked by the company who uses them for money
Some mage tower fights were still annoying even if you did overgear them. The healer one (minus disc priest) was still challenging even towards the end of ABT. The tank ones were also hard (to some degree) to do even after the nerfs that one got (2 small nerfs, 1 big nerf and another big nerf for paladins only).
I found the fury warrior challenge annoying due to RNG screwing me over a few times.
