Remember when betas were for people to test the game and find bugs

Not to stream and rake in the donations. pepperidge farm remembers

Public betas have always been half for marketing and building hype.

I mean…being a salty child is also a thing.

Most of the streamers ive watch have been testing old bugd/exploits to see if they are fixed and than reporting them.

I don’t remember when beta’s weren’t exclusive. If they weren’t exclusive, they were just pointless. It’s not the streamer’s fault they figured out a way to make money playing video games before you did

Panhandling, begging for money existed long before streamers started doing it online.

You realize that streamers are the most visible parts of the community so of course they seem like they consist only of them. There are more and more waves going out and there are a ton of bugs already reported.

Think of it this way, blizzard are watching these streamers along with thousands of viewers and can see what a problem is. If something happens on stream, tons of people report it and there is a vod itself of what exactly happened.

I’ve only observed the behavior people keep projecting on streamers and their followers from those same people.

But that’s none of my business.

You know… theres more of us non streamers in the beta that streamers. And we are testing.

Speaking of that. On “Deep Ocean, Vast Sea” can anyone remember if looting the chests through the back of the boat was in Vanilla? I know it worked on private servers but I cannot recall 16 years ago.

You cant on the beta and I’m wondering if I should ignore it because I dont know if its accurate or not, lol. Maybe old thottbot/allakhazam comments from 2005 will help.

I’ve found 4 bugs so far, and reported them with as much detail as i could.

I’m sure many others are doing this too.

Beta is for hype as well. 100k streamers watching asmonbald do deadmines on twitch is good for blizzard.

Streamers are advertisers that blizzard doesn’t have to pay.

Why pay an outside marketing firm to do a classic campaign with TV or online ads when you can give some streamers on the most popular platform for gamers free access to play your game?

The streamers aren’t there to test bugs. You know cars that have signs on them advertising stuff? That’s a streamer. They’re literally an ad. That’s how Blizzard corporate sees them I think.

Non streamer beta tester here. Played since open beta 2004. Ive looged 3 bug reports so far. None critical. With that said…I want classic to be great again. These streamers will bring the fresh blood and money it needs to survive. I only hope classic loving devs in the upper echelon will be adamant that Classic remain Classic.

That was before wow was even a game, i also remember when Demo’s were demos, and when people bought games just to play demos <Zone of the enders for metal gear solid 2)

Always report

Slightly related to looting through a boat… But in Blackrock Depths, you COULD loot through the locked vault to get heart of the mountain, there was some sort of clipping issues, where if there was a pixel gap from where 2 edges where together it was enough to be able to click. It may be the same with boats.

I.e. You can’t click through the face of a wall, but you can exploit where the 2 edges from 2 adjoining faces meet. Think aliasing of straight lines, can only exist on a pixel, so you get jagged lines with gaps, that CAN be exploited.
Edit: This was the casein Vanilla, I did it myself back then.
