Remember 10 man raiding?
I always found it a lot easier to get 10 people together to do content than 20. I know that the gear wasn’t top tier and that there were balancing issues.
However with the current drop in players, maybe it’s time to consider bringing back this playstyle. I may be in the minority and I don’t push content much anymore. I don’t find I have the time to dedicate to a real progression group or even a team at the moment. But more options are always nice.
Maybe I just have nostalgic glasses…But I remember enjoying pushing raid content with 10 people. I think it would be easier to have a 10 man raiding team. I suppose you could pretend 5 man Mythic’s are almost close, but you don’t get to see the end game content with them.
LFR is a struggle to get people you need at times. if it was only 10 people required it might make things better.
What are other peoples thoughts? I’m sure I’m missing things. Community what do you have to say?
You can still 10 man. Just not mythic. 2-2-6 every week.
Doesn’t matter much to me I mostly pug and I can pick and choose and make groups of whatever number I want
I haven’t been raiding for a few expansions now. I assume you are trying to say that the raids scale in regular but not higher than that? I’m not sure what you mean by 2-2-6. I can guess 2 healers, 2 tanks and 6 DPS?
I was fairly sure they scrapped the scaling back in MoP, but once again I don’t raid so I can be mistaken.
Care to elaborate?
Regular and Heroic raids scale with the group size so you can have a raid anywhere from 10 to 25 people. Mythic is set for 20 people.
Yep.
That’s fair. Everyone plays the game how they like it. I just have some rose tinted glasses. Keep on doing what works for you
What? You asked for 10 mans, 10 mans still exist. The raid scales well this time around.
Thank you for the clarification. As I had stated I haven’t bothered trying to raid for a long time.
Is there a reason why it seems the LFR isn’t 10 man? Just Normal and Heroic? Or is there a 10 man version of LFR and I just haven’t seen it.

LFR is 25 man for queue time reasons.
I’d assume it’s to make it as easy as possible to get them filled. Tanks are generally the bottleneck; making LFR groups larger means you can get more heals/dps through with one pair of tanks.
Gotcha. So you can still play in 10 mans if you so choose. but you can’t do the easiest content in 10 mans due to a surplus of DPS players.
You also can’t push content I assume for balancing issues.
Thank you for the response.
Flexible raid size is WAY better than strict 10 man size. In the old format if 12 people showed up then you had drama over who gets forced to sit out. Now you can just bring 12 people and not leave any of your friends out
That’s a nice way of putting it.
Have you found the balance to work out well in regards to this? Having fewer players in the group trying to get the content down that is.
I am assuming you have more experience than I doing so (pretty sure anyone would have more experience than I at this point
).
Yeah actually flexible raid sizes has been one of the few things that Blizzard implemented REALLY well. Each new person you invite scales the HP higher, so mostly it’s just important for each person to “pull their weight”.
Occasionally there are mechanics that are easier with fewer people (spread out!) or with more people (soak multiple puddles at once!), but generally they’re scaled pretty well. Most common potential issue is too many / too few healers compared to the number of DPS, but that’s solvable by having a couple people skilled enough at both to respec as needed
