I know this might not be the right place to ask about this but this is a friendlier forum than most, one appalling recent thread notwithstanding.
I ran into a technical issue last night that apparently the only solution for was to do a full re-install of WoW. I knew my addons would persist but I didn’t realise all their data would go >poof<
So I have lost all my preset teams, my leveling queue, my settings etc. I can recreate the settings easily enough but the rest is really a lot of work. I was hoping that that data actually is still around somewhere and can be re-imported? Or at least hacked out somehow so I can use it to start over.
Any help appreciated.
do you have an old restore point from before you reinstalled? or a disc image?
I constantly copy my wtf and addon folders to other drives and such.
When you reinstalled WoW, did you delete the WTF folder? If so did you create a backup of it first somewhere?
Addon settings are saved in your WTF folder. For Rematch it’s World of Warcraft/retail/WTF/Account/%accountname%/SavedVariables/Rematch.lua.
If you have a backup of your WTF folder someplace you can copy that Rematch.lua back. (Make sure you do it while out of game. When you logout/reload that Rematch.lua gets overwritten with whatever was in memory in-game at the time.)
If the method of reinstalling WoW didn’t include deleting the WTF folder but teams are gone, look in the same folder for a Rematch.lua.bak. This is a backup occasionally made. You can make a copy (I recommend copying the .bak file out to someplace outside WoW’s folders so WoW doesn’t delete/overwrite it) and then overwrite Rematch.lua with. Again, everything should be done when out of the game. (But if the .bak file is there and you’re in game, copy it someplace safe before you exit.)
And it won’t help you after the fact, but a low-tech way to backup teams is from the Teams button on the top of the Teams panel. It exports them all as a string that you can paste into notepad or an email to restore back later.

I just hit Uninstall on the launcher, then Install on the launcher. It never asked me about any folders.
The Interface folder appears untouched but the WTF folder looks like a clean install would. All the .bak files are just essentially empty copies of the originals both created today. I had already closed out the game before I posted.
Oh well, appreciate the attempt
What is aggravating is that I didn’t actually have any issue, I was helping someone else on the Bug forum and it sounded like they needed to do a Scan and Repair - but I don’t like to tell someone to do something to their machine without checking it myself first, so I did a Scan and Repair - and it got stuck in some kind of loop where at the end of the Scan it would say “Something went wrong, try again” and then would immediately re-launch the Scan. And Tech Support’s only remedy offered for that is lol uninstall reinstall.
So it generally just sucks to be me today.

Do you have your teams favorited on Xu-Fu’s Pet Guides? We have a new feature where you can mass import your favorited teams. It doesn’t work for tdScripts, sadly, but it’ll get you your teams back ^^

That usually has to do with disc space as wow holds a big temp space to install. I lost all my teams once and had to relearn many of the newer fights as dragoninthedark is so good at coming up with new strategies.
