Release - Server Selection

Thinking back on the day of release of wow and one of the biggest impactful decisions you can make behind selecting a character.

How will you select your server?

Excluding all the people who will blindfully follow their guild.

I recall selecting Warsong at launch because i thought it sounded cool and to be honest I’ll probably use the same logic when selecting my next one. Part of that is due to I know there are many likeminded individuals and I would like a high pop server. (PvP)

I’ll select the first one I recognize from back then (pvp server of course)

Whichever is PvE and whichever is Medium-High.

High PvP server with a Horde-affiliated name I remember.

This is something I’ve been debating in my head for a while.

I HOPE that they release the server list early so that streamers can tell people which server they’ll be on, so, I can decide if I want to avoid those servers or not.

I don’t want to pick a server that’s going to end up being a low pop just because the name sounds cool, so, do I wait a few hours to see what happens? Or should I just pick from the top and hope that’s what everyone else is doing?

Unless they’re waiting on metrics from an open beta or still deciding on names, I really don’t see why the launch realm list shouldn’t be announced.

My requirements for a server is that it’s PvP and that there’s a decent horde guild who raids at times that work for me (9pm-?? Central time weekdays).

Server population and faction balance are secondary. But I’d prefer a medium population server that has a slightly higher Alliance population. Maybe like 55-60% Alliance. More reds to dead is good.

Sounds like a PST guild/server would be best for you. That’s a late start time, but a normalish start time for PST.

First RP server on the list

I’m hoping the server locations and time zones are announced before launch so that I can pick the server closest to me.

I want to recreate Tich 2.0 in classic. have High Pop Pvp Server with a 50/50 split.

I wouldn’t mind a Twitch streamer in my server… I would camp them when ever they’re on… :kissing_heart:

If they have one RP-PVP server… That is where I will be. RP-PVP!

If not, I’ll find out what refuge the RP-PVP community has decided on from various sources (which is still lame, Blizzard!) and roll there.

Edgy teen PVP quote from an amazing song lul.

Absolute worst case, I’ll use your logic OP and pick the server with the best WoW Lore for my new home.

RP for me please. I’m hoping there’s only one or two so the populations are tight. I get along with people so much better on RP servers it’s really unreal, and I do like to RP as long as it’s not freaky or too serious.

Will they be setting up the PvP servers so that you can only be one specific faction on them? I seem to remember that being a thing.

That’s what I was thinking. Or a mountain time guild. But interestingly enough the guild I may possibly be joining is actually on Eastern time. So they’re apparently raiding starting at 10pm.

One RP-PVP server, make it so!

But do you guys think Classic servers will have the same names as Retail servers? I think they’ll use new names.

I’m not sure why, but I have been assuming the same thing

If they made a PVP realm named Nostalrius…
