Tuesday has traditionally been the “street date” for consumer products since I can remember.
Conventional wisdom was that this would maximize first-week sales. Those who were most eagerly waiting could get their hands on the product without being interfered by the mob. Meanwhile, the hype could build during the week, encouraging more casual consumers to make a purchase when they did their weekend shopping.
I’m not sure if that makes sense in today’s economy, but it’s definitely a carry-over from before the internet age.
For Classic, I’m pretty sure they made it Monday in the Americas because the release is mean to be simultaneous with other places in the world, for which it will already be Tuesday.
Damn you guys are a touchy bunch, that do not know how to read. Read my original post, do not assume.
Monday or Tuesday doesnt matter. This is not a patch this is the release of a game, which is why a weekend release date on say Friday makes more since. Hence the carious question, but given the state of forums these days, I should have known better. I should have known better, not try to ask a question, and expect a civilized response.
Shhh…it isn’t until Tuesday.

I assume that a lot of the employees don’t work over the weekends, so they’d have to be there in case any issues come up.

I am beginning to think Blizzard doesn’t want to be super clear about it because they hope it’ll spread out launch day log-ins.

Here’s another stretch of the imagination, I have read the thing and trying to warn others.

Actually hoping a good amount of players will actually not show up until the 27th 
Will give a bit of a buffer for those starting at the real start time.
I believe that they launch things at the beginning of the week instead of the weekend is partially because they don’t want to have their staff working all weekend.
