Relating to connection issues BFA/Classic 9/07/19 (DDOS)

Loading screen freezes when i try to log in.

edit: nevermind, it’s working, just very, very slowly.

I remember when I was dumb enough to think Blizzard cared about my opinion.

Actually it is DDOS attacks!

https://twitter.com/UKDrillas is doing it to ALL US PVP Classic Servers.

Retail PVE servers are unplayable, as well. Couldn’t get into Stormrage or Gilneas.

………………well boys and girls look like staff just earned themselves some extra OT this weekend at work lol #GreatJobBlizz

Although I do agree about the transparency and communication, I do not agree that this is an easy fix problem. It can be attempted to be mitigated but there are no guarantees. Secondly, although I haven’t read it myself (and probably never will), I would almost guarantee there is a clause in the T&C’s agreed to in order to play the game i.e. utilize the service Blizzard is offering for a fee, that 100% uptime of said services is not guaranteed for said fee. If not, I’m sure they would be liable to legal action, which they have not thus far. So, I’m sure when you skimmed down the T&C’s and hit accept, you basically accepted situations like this, corporations will rarely ever be on the back foot, just know this…

I was playing on mechagon island and suddenly I got disconnected. Now I cannot login and either get put in a queue or get disconnected due to this error.

Getting the same thing on Retail and Classic

DDOS

https://twitter.com/UKDrillas?s=09

my game boots up fine and pulls up my character list but when I click one to log in it crashes and gives me this error Wow51900319

Unable to play. In the middle of an instance with a group of 5.

I can’t hold a connection for longer than 2 minutes right now, i thought i was being hacked or something — Resulting in me changing passwords and adding authenticator immediately lol. A bit relieved to know i’m not the only one experiencing this issue. Hope it gets fixed soon…

DDoS signatures (how the connections are being used) is basically all they have. So what they do is check the pattern of use and try to pinpoint based on that.

With VPNs and proxies available it isn’t as simple as finding the highest bandwidth users and blacklisting them. You really would have trouble distinguishing the regular requests from the DDoS attacks.

The industry right now needs to move beyond the traditional request form into something more personalized for each user and each machine. Something that cannot be modified at the end user machine. Like a first-step machine registry to the internet combined with user and hardware signatures. So anyone trying to connect to these sites without being in the registry gets auto blocked.

What planet do you live on?

hello.

Im not really sure why this was moved. My question will be put into a ticket so i can get an official response.

Just FYI Blizz - moving things into a group and adding to a forum post is “not addressing the issue”

Reality planet how about you fool

Muradin down. I was DC’d from server, can get back to the logon screen but DC’s again during connection process. Ugh… I was in BfA.

I wonder if this is part of the Vanilla experience too -___-

I am agreeing with you 110% This is the first time this has happened to me after returning from a 5 year departure from WoW. This has to be a fricken “hacker” or ‘Classic’ glitch on Blizzard’s side… IDK, but I agree with you.

  1. They’re not Russian
  2. This is a DDoS attack on a dying Medieval MMO for giggles , not an infiltration of a national voting database for the purpose of manipulating a political and possibly global pendulum by affecting the results of an election of the most powerful country on Earth
  3. If you’re trolling, you’re impotent at best
