Regular panic attacks: What do youd o in wow?

I don’t have much anxiety when playing WoW. But I have had people in my circles which have had anxiety. From the other side of things, something I aim to do is make sure the person knows the environment they’re in is going to be productive, and is one where they’re brought in with the intent of having fun and keeping things relaxed. We’ll bust their chops because we bust everyone’s chops – it’s a sign we like you.

To that end, I would recommend anyone who has anxiety playing this game try to find a consistent friend group to play with. Hell, I would recommend that to anyone playing this game in any capacity. But people with anxiety especially should try to find a friend group they can play with regularly, as that will mitigate some of the anxiety off the bat if you know the people you’re surrounded with are good people.

I know. It’s not easy. But I’d still recommend it.

I don’t have anxiety issues, but I’ve always found simple easy farming (for whatever resource) a relaxing WoW activity, especially with the right music on, and certainly if there are no other players around.

When I got these panic attacks, I thought I was going nuts.

So went to the doctor, was prescribed meds but I’m very anti-drug in all ways so I studied instead and found out some interesting things.

Scent/smells can trigger a panic attack. There’s a lot of little things that can bring them on, just like a lot of little things we can be deficient in that brings on a lot of ailments that just get drugs prescribed.

Drugs can be fine for some but I like to find the source of the problem so I removed a lot of material things, deep cleaned my home, myself and made sure I got all the vitamins and minerals I need daily.

Got rid of a lot of perfumes, found mold in the house and got rid of that.

Haven’t had a panic attack since. But that’s me. Idk if that’ll help you as I’m not a doctor.
Just some ideas.

I play in my garrisons and watch my battle pets walk around in it, even though the raiders claim no one likes them.

Ooof. Been there. Those SSRIs are brutal when you’re trying to cut back.

If I’m like. Mega stressed. I just boot up Skyrim so I can just walk and listen to the steps my character takes. Like the crunch of leaves or snow. With some audio mods that add more ambiance its really nice.

Not sure if I do this to relieve anxiety, though I am definitely going through some caregiver fatigue (terminally ill parent). To calm myself, I actually really like dragon riding over the isles. Just going as high as I can and then soaring between trees, over the water, through caves, that sort of thing. Also just regular flying over dragonblight calms me. As well as farming old raid mogs. Super low effort, chance for something pretty, no stakes.

I have nothing useful to add other than i do hope you get some relief from your anxiety. Good vibes headed your way :heart:

I know that caregiver fatigue very well, took care of my mom for 5 years, she had dementia, the week she passed on, the hospice nurses were browbeating me into taking them (hospice) take her for a week, I was drained mentally and physically, She passes on 2 days after they moved her into the hospice nursing ward. In my head, I know I did all I could do for her, but in my heart, I will NEVER forgive my self.
