Regular game freeze and black screen

I have recently starting getting frequent instances while playing of the following:

  1. Game freezes
  2. Screen goes black with spinning blue circle
  3. A short time later the black screen vanishes and the game returns
  4. There are no error messages and the computer does not shut down.

On the most recent occasion I had some music playing on Youtube, and that continued to play through the whole problem. I cannot recall this happening outside WoW.

The card is relatively new, it is a Radeon RX 7600.

I would really appreciate some assistance to try and narrow down what could be causing this as I can’t recall having this sort of issue in the game before. (While I did have GPU issues in the past that was due to my having an older overused laptop for my gaming.)

Did you do a clean install of the GPU drivers?

I plan to try that tomorrow. Im always concerned about doing this sort of thing myself (older woman, not very technically minded) but I assume all I need to do is download the latest driver, uninstall the current one and then install the new one.

Nope, just head into the driver software, click reinstall and choose clean install.

I checked the driver installation, there is no choice of a ‘clean’ install, there is just install.

When you install, there is an option to choose “Clean install.” It’s standard on AMD and nVidia GPU software.

Would it be the Factory Reset?

The install types seem to be things that include and dont include other stuff.

Yes, factory reset. Also choose NO on the “collect information”

Unfortunately it would not let me do the factory reset; the option for it was greyed out. My PC tech suggested I simply install the update and see how it performs from there. If it continues my first step will be to return the graphics card and try something other than a Radeon. For whatever reason, this card does not appear to like WoW.

Looking at tech support forums, there’s a massive bug with WoW at the moment with the 7000-series AMD cards. There has not been an acknowledgement of such as of late. The best thing to do is to report the bug with Adrenaline software when it crashes and be specific where you were when it happened. Add these instances to this forum post and keep at it until either AMD pushes an update or WoW does.

-Just my two cents-

I agree with their advice.

disable fast boot (fast startup) in power button settings before you DDU. apparenly having fast boot on will load your old drivers again after you reboot the pc.
