Should make it substantially harder for a single person to control the market.
Time to team up then
Gold Barons unite!
In that example didn’t they mention crafting armor? I feel like they are still on track.
So… it’s the apocalypse for gathering professions, but it’s also not… can’t have it both ways. The fact of the matter is it will settle out at a mean price similar to what the highest pop servers are at. It won’t floor. The hysteria and FUD is just sad.
It shouldn’t be… but it does. RWF literally warps the economy region wide for the first few weeks of a tier.
Lol bots… aka people who have a 2nd account to spam check for undercuts…
Core changes to how the ah operates within the Lua environment need to change. Bots can’t operate if these changes are made.
Oh joy, I can’t wait to have to solve a captcha to post some fish for 1c above vendor price.
Let’s hope they don’t make a goblin discord and coordinate market control.
Could easily end up having to pay more for everything if they work together.
It’s going to break one way or the other. Or it will be tug of war between absurd pricing and bots crashing the market.
I don’t think it’s going to be the buyers utopia you imagine.
They just did an overhaul during BFA, they didn’t fix it then so don’t hold your breath.
Those won’t be regionally priced. Only thing changing are commodity prices. You might be right but that would be on the people of the server.
As someone that mainly focuses on selling commodities across realms and enjoys the profession/selling aspect of the game above anything else - I think this is a terrible change. Especially on high pop I’m already constantly cancel scanning to make sales on certain items - I can’t even begin to imagine how obnoxious it will be when way more players are added into the mix. Heck, I started focusing on medium/low pop servers just so I could avoid spending all hours of the night on the auction house just to make gold.
I feel like this change will kill certain professions and cause a lot of players to focus on non commodities - crashing those prices as well.
If they do this, they need to break TSM
That’s called Capitalism… e.g. what the market price is. That’s precisely what will happen. Blizz will be able to control pricing via spawn rates vs. having a few people control an entire server’s market. It’s REALLY bad on smaller servers right now. Like… on the smallest servers pots are going for 6 figures. That’s… insane.
Commodities markets are saturated as it is. They should be server specific as scarcity of goods as well as scarcity of crafting patterns for said goods is what drives a server economy. Commodities is the bread and butter of every gathering profession. This is a pointless change that will bottom out prices for all these materials, including older obsolete materials people use for crafting unique old items. It’ll be even more damaging for current content commodities unless changes to the availability of crafting recipes is made to increase their scarcity. Things like meat and hides from Shadowlands content are already bottomed out at barely above vendor price. Why list things in the AH if you can’t generate gold from them greater than vendoring them? No this change was done the wrong way; gear and other such items, as opposed to commodities are what should have been made available to the battlegroup. Someone on server X with a rare item should be able to sell it to someone on server Y who wants it. Rare items operate in a different capacity to commodities and larger marketplace means more chance of a sale. I hope they reconsider this.
Agreed. I do commodities on all range of servers low to high pop. And the prices are all reasonable. It’s the crafted gear, legendaries, and mounts on the lower pop realms that are insanely overpriced. That’s what they should be focusing on.
magnitudes overpriced from a low realm pop compared to a full server. It’s crazy seeing a 500% markup because a low pop server only has 3 or 4 people who craft the decent gear and 1 or 2 guilds raiding at a level that affords them the ability to put their BoEs on the market!
The issue is you’ll end up with realms that have high commodity prices but low gear prices - in essence, gear would sell for less than it would cost to make it on those realms if gear was regionwide.
This is something that shouldn’t be touched at all
More victims for the 1s bait and buy.
List any crafting mat for 1s and buy all the materials when others list a same price. Then profit.
Commodities scarcities are remedied by farming. Rare drops, not necessarily crafted gear, is a different kind of market. If I wanted to sell a Chromatic Sword for tmog I’m looking at a unique situation where only a handful of players are after the item that have both the means and interest to buy it. They might be on another server though and not willing to xfer to buy it nor is there a system in place to send their money and goods between characters on diff servers. Commodities will always be easier to come by because they are generated in the world at far greater levels than something like a Chromatic Sword. with FEW exceptions. Black Lotus is unicorn farts.
I dont think most people realize how bad this is going to be.
Farming that’s done by thousands of flocks of druids? There’s going to be no scarcity at all. And even if spawn rates are nerfed, you’re still hurting the legit players. The bots won’t care because there’s no humans that need to eat or sleep.
