Regen looks too fast

Been watching some streamers play and they just run around the map killing stuff without ever having to eat/drink. I can see their health tick back up as they run to the next mob. Working as intended? I played vanilla and I remember having to eat/ drink even at early levels.

Yeah been playing for a few hours and haven’t had a drink. I remember you do like 3 to 4 spells then your mana will be low so you hit the enemies with your weapon until you have enough mana lol (playing as a priest)

Good thing they have a reference client to check against

Yup, Regen on health and mana looks way too fast. Sometimes it looked like it was regening in combat while running away from mobs but I could be wrong. I remember as melee having to make sure food was on hand or else had to sit and wait for health/mana to refill. Lets not make food and drinks in vanilla worthless as it was definitely something you had to take with you leveling back in vanilla. Thats why so many people looked for mages to get stacks for food while they were in main cities before venturing out.

I distinctly remember eating and/or drinking every 2 mobs or so, pre AND post BC

But muh reference client

mana for sure is regen in combat. just make a lvl 1 paladin and cast a seal and as you auto attack a mob your mana just regens to full. Even though its only lvl 1 I don’t believe it ever did that before.

Nice. Another uninformed thread with anecdotal replies.

Are people trying to say mana didn’t regen in combat? Of course it did. You just couldn’t cast for 5 seconds. And mp5 even bypassed that rule.

It seems high to me

Yeah, I firmly believe it didn’t in combat. I remember health was halted until combat flag was over. The regen wasnt that fast either. I been looking at some old vanilla leveling guide videos like the ones Joana’s level guides did back then and can clearly see how fast it was. Like this for example:

There is a claim that by 1.12 there was a “boost” applied to regen that drops off by level 15. Don’t know how valid it is, but if true, you’ll start feeling it at some point in your teens.

Watched staysafe’s 1-10 and it looked normal to me. The 5 second rule for mana, HP regen amount out of combat, pet threat, cast times and projectile speed of SB/FBall. All looked pretty good to me for a beta

Of course it is when theyre that low with hardly any intellect/stam adding to the pool.

Wait until they hit 20s

Full mana regen happened in combat. Just 5 seconds after your last cast. With talents on some classes you could get X% within that 5 second window.

Edit: Health didn’t regen in combat

…

Did you watch the video? His mana very clearly regenerates in combat.

Mana Regen is governed by the “5 second rule” so long as no mana is consumed for 5 seconds, regen will happen at 100%. (Yes, that means 100% regen can happen while casting so long as you aren’t dealing with a instant cast or channeled spell, 5SR timer only resets upon completion of a spell cast)

Passive Health Regen only happen out of combat, unless you’re Horde and playing a Troll.

^This.

I’m amazed there are so many threads commenting about regen rates when people don’t understand the basic rules that existed for years.

yeah I did, thanks for pointing that out

All these people saying “oh good they have a reference client”

Dude they’ve known about the regen issues since the demo. This should have been done. This is basic combat mechanics.

I can’t imagine the amount of polish missing from the game that we can’t even see yet post-30.
