Regarding Tender Discount

Opinions will differ, and I’m not here to cry or to ask for retroactive discounts. I’m sure Blizzard is already extremely aware of the situation that has been set up by the act of offering discounts on older gear. Those who have saved a lot benefit (though if they’ve saved a lot, they may just already not be that interested in what’s on offer, so maybe it’s a wash), while those who spent a lot (because they really enjoy the items) will benefit much less, which sucks because they really enjoy the items.

Often, this wouldn’t be an issue, because people who wanted to take advantage of the discounts could just grind more. But with tenders specifically, there is a hard cap. There are only X amount of tenders you can have earned up to this point, doing everything every month and purchasing the couple packs that included tenders in the past. Therefore, in the case that someone did save a lot of tenders and spends them at a hefty discount, in regards to value per tender they will always be ahead of those who spent them prior. The account itself will just permanently have more “tender value” associated with it than an account which spent more tenders month on month.

The ask is, just let me buy my transmog tenders already. There will be complaints, there are always complaints, I’ve complained plenty in the past, including when the trading post was originally added, and when tenders were bundled into a stupid wrist transmog package. I’ve made peace with the fact I’m a whale. WoW is the only game I treat this way, and I’m content with that. I just want all the colors of scarves and skirts and hoods and neat weapons and whatever else for my +1’s. I’m willing to purchase the tenders to buy these transmogs with real money if the cost is remotely reasonable.

Those that bought it the first time around got to benefit from it for longer. Nothing wrong with that. Prices change. 2024 car on the lot gets put on sale because people want the 2025 car. They want the shiny new things. So the value of the pre-existing items could be perceived as lower.

Please don’t. The trading post is an option to obtain items for playing the game. Normal, every day stuff. Not grinding gold to try to buy tokens to avoid paying cash. Don’t take that away.

This type of desperation is what entices Blizzard to continue their FOMO practices.

How many threads are y’all going to spam with the same nonsense, because you can’t learn to budget an in game currency?

I said it before and I’ll say it again: only WoW players would whine about an outlet store.

As someone who bought a lot of things before, I’m glad a lot of them are now available for others at discount. And, same way, I’m glad that a lot of things I didn’t buy before are now available to me with discount. Plus that extra 500 tenders this month.

I don’t see a single issue with returning items with discounts. People feel they were fooled because… they should have waited instead of buying what they wanted? So now will they start to wait, and then complain when next we get this kind of extra they won’t find the exact item they passed over the first time?

Buy what you want. Leave some savings for the future. That’s what I do. I will never get everything I want, but whenever this kind of bonus comes out, it’s another opportunity to get things.

This is my only thread. How many are you going to complain about?

I also like the discounts. I don’t know who feels fooled, or who the hypothetical people are that you’re worried will complain about whatever that sentence meant.

Then they get to enjoy the items for all that time.

That is ALWAYS the deal with cosmetics in WoW. Lots of things become easier/cheaper later. You are never signing a binding exclusivity contract by getting it early, you just have the ability to use that thing for longer. A 3rd AH brutosaur could be released as the next trading post monthly reward. And anyone who bought a previous one is owed nothing.

Buying TP stuff should already be based on actually wanting to use it. That’s why you can’t get everything, to show that completionism is not the point of it.

And there it is.

Blizzard want to see this exact feedback, which is why they intentionally did this experiment with the vendors. They want so bad to go back on their “you won’t be able to buy tenders directly” promise and feedback like this will give them the ammunition to do so.

Comings soon: 1000 Tenders for $15! 2500 Tenders for $25! 5000 Tenders for $40! 10000 (with 5000 Tender bonus) Tenders for $100!

I think its just rough for collectors. … I don’t really branch out into many different transmog themes but I get it.

I kind of hope they keep the discount guys around but I doubt it will be more then a once a year thing.

This “situation” only exists in the heads of mental dwarfs such as yourself.

There is no “situation”. Stop buying the awful looking stuff they put on the TP some months and you can actually save tenders. I may buy a few more things but I’m still sitting on 10k. That’s because I don’t buy every single mount even if it looks bad.

You said a mouthful - there are always complainers no matter how it’s done!

A lot. Look at all the Mythic+ whiners…they are getting what they asked for. It works.

“THERE SHE BLOWS!!!” goodness gracious :person_facepalming:

  1. That is not “always” how trading post items have worked. In fact, it is “never” how trading post items have worked up to this point.
  2. A 3rd AH brutosaur mount is a new, unique item, most probably with its own means of acquisition, and not in any way comparable to the trading post items.
  3. I never said I was owed anything, and in fact opened the thread with the explicit statement, in the VERY first sentence, that I am not asking for retroactive discounts. I would hope you would have read at least the very first sentence of the thread. Seems not.

That’s uncharitable. Much of the modern game revolves around pet/mount/transmog collecting, and a sizable portion of the playerbase, many with no psychological disabilities at all, play the game for that very reason.
