Regarding shadow priests

Are they just not supposed to kick? Do they get a pass on that just because their kick is 45secs? I ask because I just got out of a theater of pain and during it it seemed like the poor healer was struggling but it turns out by the end of the dungeon, the priest didn’t have a single kick. Me and the frost dk each had 23 and heck even the healer had a lot of kicks.

Even if their kick is a long cool down just kicking those death bolts on the last boss is game changing. Am I missing something here?

It could be that they didn’t take the talent (it is something you have to spec for). Or that person was just lazy.

To be fair, silence has such a long cd that I usually hold it for emergencies. More often than not stuff gets interrupted before I ever need to use mine, and therefore I’ll have like 3 by the end of the dungeon when everyone else is in the 20s. That’s said, if bone spears or necrotic volleys are going off and the spriest still has silence on cd, that’s a problem…especially in ToP where a shackle can interrupt with no cd at all.

Yeah I mean that’s fair but not a single kick the entire time does not seem okay. Especially on those things you mentioned and death bolts on the last boss where even one DB going off can kill someone.

Yea, if they’re at 0, they’re being lazy. Even if everyone else in the group is an interrupting superstar, I still manage to squeak in at least a couple.

Okay thank you just wanted to be sure I wasn’t going crazy. Context is key as they say!

No, zero kicks mean they are bad and should feel bad.

I still don’t understand why Spriests have a 45 second cooldown when we have ours for like, 25 seconds. Minus 4 if used correctly.

Sprays the fox with vinegar water

It’s also possible they weren’t paying attention and started the dungeon in a raid cleave loadout and not have silence talented. I’ve done definitely done that and had to apologize while I run out and fix it. Except you can’t just run out of ToP after the first boss…so your just stuck being a burden for the whole run

At least we have a kick, while our healer brethren don’t get anything at all. A design choice that’s total…insanity :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Y’know…

Sometimes I like to take a big empty can with absolutely nothing in it and wear it for hat.

They should still try to kick, but Silence is the uncontested worst interrupt in the game and if you’re running with stuff like Shamans or DKs that have their kick up every 12 seconds it’s very, very likely that your kick will get munched by one of them. And sometimes it’s used not to interrupt a cast, but as a pre-interrupt since it can lock mobs out of even starting a cast in the first place.

Oh, and it’s also the literal only interrupt in the game that costs you either damage or survivability to take. Like, SPriest will genuinely have to choose between losing up to a 10% shield while at full HP (which is incredibly useful) or losing about 2-3% of its damage if it wants to take the single worst, most pathetic excuse for an interrupt in the game.

In lower (like sub-12) pug keys I genuinely don’t take Silence and on most raid bosses with an interrupt I seldom take it (I run it on Stix and Bandit but seldom even get to press it) because it’s an absolutely pathetic button and if your group is relying on a Shadow Priest to get a high-priority kick before anyone else then dozens upon dozens of mistakes were made. When I was title pushing in SL S2 and DF S3 I took it still, but it was still absolute cheeks.

TL;DR: Silence is an absolutely abysmal ability.

also mildly likely dude is slow at kicking/finishing casts and is getting sniped by melee kicks

so while they may have used it, someone kicked first, but its still on cd for 45s

I mean, I kick myself quite frequently after getting blasted in the face with a spell I wish I could have interrupted. Looking at you Zekvir

i personally enjoy losing my kick because someone CC’d it a split second before and now it’s getting recast. i can’t imagine how excited i would be having that happen with a 45 second CD

leave the shadow priest alone tbh, but tell them to scream every once in a while though

Idiot developers.

Meanwhile Shaman across all 3 specs sitting with a 12 second kick because… reasons.

are we calling silences kicks now or does spr actually have an interrupt now?

It behaves as an interrupt on non player targets that are immune to silence.

gotchaaaa just never seen it being referred to as a kick so many times lol ya they just dont care prob, sometimes when playin classes youre not as familiar with or coming from a class that doesnt have like an equivalent to certain abilities you can completely blank them but id just chalk it up to who cares lol not that big of a deal
