You’ve noticed on your map some delves are glowing and some aren’t, right?
The glowing ones have a bigger locked chest at the end that needs a key. There is ALWAYS a piece of gear in this chest, as well as a bunch of other stuff.
You get the keys from world events and special assignment world quests. Since you can only do level 3 delves atm most people are saving their keys to use in higher delves. I have 8 atm, you get roughly 5 a week, and one bonus one for each renown faction at 13. I’m going to have 22-23 when we get to September 10th.
They seem to be on a M+ kind of gear track with the added annoyance of needing to gather keys for the bountiful delves. When the 10th or w.e rolls around, you’ll get higher ilvl gear on the higher delves from what I read.
Otherwise it’s a hit or miss for people.
Frankly I think they could benefit from even a boost in gold at the end lol - some more exploration etc, something that was missing from Islands.
But I guess they wanted to aim between zskera vault and shorter follower dungeons.
The fact they let us gather keys ahead of time has kinda blown this away. There’s roughly 22-23 keys available including heroic week, meaning a potential of 22-23 champion ilvl items in the first week.
I find them excruciatingly boring. They feel like solo mythic plus. They each have their own mechanic that feels like an affix aka annoyance. Tww will be easy to ignore between patches.
I think the players who need to gradually progress them will remain engaged, also we only have this many keys for this season because we had a pre season that’s gonna last 2 and a half weeks, as well as 4 free ones from renown.
S1 → S2 has no such gap. You start S2 with 0, not 18-19.
Does the end chest respawn each time, or each week?
For example, if you have several keys, and find that “Branns Brewery and Brothel” is the easiest delve to do, can you just run that one back to back for each key?
Or is it that each delve will offer a chest each week, all of which need a key to open. So, while you may have several keys now, you’re limited by how many delves are available each week?
Might be the class, might be my lack of skill, might be ilvl, but I can’t complete the bountiful delves at a level that offers gear improvement. Because of this, that particular feature is worthless to me.
Each day 1 of the delves in each zone will be active as bountiful. I think you can only do each on bountiful once before it returns to regular but I may be mistaken.
If that’s the case, you can spend 4 keys per day. Which given you get 4-5 per week will be fine long term. It’s just a tad weird now because we were allowed to bank so many up.
they’re supposed to be an end game pillar like M+ or Raids, but Delves can be done solo.
unfortunately they feel kind of pointless atm, because season 1 hasn’t started yet, but the rewards are supposed to be up to heroic raid level during season 1.
certain world activities give you Restored Coffer Keys which can be used to unlock a chest at the end of “Bountiful Delves” (the ones with the yellow doors on your map, instead of the brown-ish color) to get gear which scales with the level of Delve you’re on.
you could unlock these chests now, and get something, but personally i’m going to be waiting until season 1 starts and then cash all mine in then, since that should give me better rewards.
Season 1 never starts with launch. it’s always 1-2 weeks after launch so players have time to level, complete the campaign quests, and get familiar the dungeons. season 1 starts next Tuesday.
I went into a bountiful delve for a quest, and when i came out it wasn’t bountiful anymore, but all the other delves still were.
I also didn’t use a key, so it seems if you don’t use your key the first time you miss your chance for the day.
Season 1 hasn’t started yet. When it does, Delves will give increased rewards based on the difficulty level, and they will contribute to Vault slots in the weekly reward vault.
So, right now they might seem a little useless but they won’t stay that way.
That tracks. 4 Bountiful delves per day, one in each zone. Regardless of if you open the chest or not.
That means you might want to “level up” your delves avoiding the bountifuls day 1 of the season then go straight into +8 on all the bountiful ones to not waste a chance to open a big chest.
As long as delves keep rewarding appropriate ilvl gear, I’m happy with them. There are days/weeks that I don’t feel like dealing with the cesspool of toxic players, so if there is a way to get end game gear without having to deal with M+ / raiding… consider me a happy subscriber.
