Regarding 'CompStomp'

I think they should leave CompStomp up
all of the time for players gearing-up.
Then the game would be more about
skill and less about gear, since more
would have access to comparable gear.
Not everyone has the time to invest
in the slow acquisition of pvp gear.

I like your idea! Blizz needs to do more to help pvp newcomers get semi-competitive gear. The craftable greens are a joke, and nobody is willing to pay for their crafting anyway.

In current retail, your best bet to start is turn warmode on, and grab the weekly bloody token world quest at the dornogal gate. It will specify one of the four TWW zones. Go to that zone and do world quests, any world quest, they give 10% progress each. For the remainder, collect wax piles. They’re a randomly spawning lootable lump on the ground. Easiest way to see em is to make sure you have outline mode enabled, and drink an inky black potion. They’ll show up like a neon diner sign along a dark desert highway.

After you get the cool wind in your hair by completing the weekly, return to dorn and cash in your quest. You will prpbably have enough to buy an epic 636 (scaling) weapon. If not, check your map for pvp quests in other zones that reward 500 bloody tokens. There are 2 new pvp world quests each day, so keep checking.

Next you’ve got to somehow win a battleground. This is easy if you’re alliance, but you may have to lose 6-8 times on horde before winning one.

That reminds me, alliance get “war crates” delivered to zones every 20 minutes. They contain all sorts of pvp currency, and are probably the easiest way to earn real gear. If you’re horde, too bad.

After winning a bg, you get 9 gladiator crafting tokens. Use these to craft rings/neck with optimal stats for your pvp role. If you have any honor, buy 2 trinkets for the set bonus.

From this point on you should have a footing in pvp, and can farm more gear however you like.

It is so insanely fast to acquire PvP gear right now I honestly don’t see the problem as things are.

horde win 99% of all bgs in my battlegroup lol. alliance used to get all the crates but now horde forms raid groups and takes over a zone for however long they want to, which is great they deserve the crates too. It’s just bad design on blizzs part because no pvp actually happens, alliance just goes to the next zone over obviously.

as for the topic, I think comp stomp was a really bad idea tbh, when it’s up it’s super easy to farm honor and it feels nice yeah but at the same time theres zero actual pvp happening and it feels bad when it cycles out. It should never have been introduced.

PvP needs gear progression to stay alive and active just as much as pve, im actually really happy with how the system is currently. You can get full epics in literally a day or two of full playing. And then you still have progression through gems and upgrading bloody gear to conquest. It honestly feels perfect. I don’t want sitting in a bg pve fighting bots to be the permanent best way to finish getting sockets.

One last thing, if anyone is doing battlegrounds to farm honor to buy actual gear please don’t do that. You need that honor for gem sockets. Turn on warmode and do world quests and get bloody gear, do the one battleground for crafting jewelry, you should not be wearing green pvp gear pretty much at all now.

Loved comp stomp because queues were a min or 2, and the BG like 10 min. I could get 4-5 bgs done an hour.

Way better than 15-20 minute queues to then get farmed by a premade for 30 minutes or take a 15 deserter, either way no conquest points.

Yeah the low queue time is one of the biggest pros about comp stomp. I had like 2 more medals to get for a pvp piece and I had to wait a good while before a queue popped up.

Not to mention it’s the best way to get Arathi Basin rep. In fact we need a Warsong Gulch version too.

Follower dungeons for pvp seems pretty natural.

my intention would be to play against the machine to get better.
not as a fast way to farm honor and gear.
you presume the worst.

Comp Stomp should be a weekly PVP staple.

I’m of two minds of this.

First, I really don’t see the point of PvP gear as it is. The only meaningful rewards outside of bragging rights for a high PvP rating are purely cosmetic, and once you’re decked out in Conq gear, that’s it. And it’s significantly easier to get full Conq than a very high PvP rating.

All PvP gear does is work in one specific game mode, and takes up a lot of inventory space in the process. The only thing gear does is discourage people from trying out PvP in the first place because, yes, you join a BG without gear you’re just going to get farmed and earn the ire of your teammates.

So things like Comp Stomp? A fast, easy way to get geared although I honestly believe that, except for the PvP trinket, PvP gear should just be left in the past. There’s no purpose to it anymore.

On the other, it doesn’t really matter how much or how quickly you get geared because if you don’t know what you’re doing you just up and lose anyway. Some of this is class specific, some are much harder to play than others and the game never has nor will be balanced for 1v1 fights, but you can be in full Conq and lose to someone in Honors just because they know what to do in X situation and you don’t.

Comp Stomp will do nothing to help with that. The AI is remarkably awful.

So, I dunno, I think they should just cut to the chase and just remove the ‘’‘‘progression’’‘’ of PvP gear and do a better job of introducing people into PvP, should they have a desire to learn it.

I think they should have a few template battle grounds where you could still get honor etc. This should be for 80s only and each class should be given a specific set of gear. It would cool to be able to jump in on a fresh 80 and start getting honor without being dead half the time.

I suck at PvP and dominate comp stomp, I’m not getting better in there.

If you want more people to PvP, fix the gear issue first. If I can’t buy a set with gold that makes me competitive, I’m not going to queue just to get farmed for honor.

I started pvp this season with a compstomp during a PVP meta quest week. Gave a bunch of nice rewards, so lots of positive reinforcement for new pvpers. But I dont think running it continuously is a good idea. Maybe one week a month.

Comp Stomp should be up every week with the way things are going!

Do not support this idea unless they make NPCs stronger.

They already did buff them the previous time it came around. People were having problems with them.

I think it should be used as a leveling pvp thing kept all the time. It’s the best way to get marks too.

The problem is that you’re forced to do rated matches while severely undergeared if you want to gear up quickly.

They should simultaneously add extra conquest to random bgs and skirms when they do the conquest cap unlock each season.

This would allow people who are late to the party to be competitively geared immediately when starting their push instead of losing matches to “Johnny 1 shot macro” who’s fully geared at 1600 rating but can still pop you while you’re wearing greens due to the ILVL difference.
