Refusing to tank

I join a group as a Paladin healer for Mauradon. There is a druid, warrior and another paladin in the group this could not have been more memey if I had made it up:

Party leader lvl 51 Druid " we are still looking for a tank"

poor bastages, they’re just suckers who believe the meme that only warriors can tank.

but one of them was a warrior… full party that can tank sitting in LFG asking for a tank

LOOOOOOL.

Are they afraid to tank?

that (off spec tank aggreement) only happens in Wailing caverns, op. Its a magical dungeon. the others…aren’t lol.

Damn wont let me post png of the transcript. But i said to the Druid leader
“We are a party of 2 pallys a warrior and a druid and you are still looking for a tank? Yuu all refuse?”
/You have been removed from the party"

I’ve tanked nearly every dungeon I’ve done even though I’m not specced into bear tanking - usually because a warrior can’t / won’t.
I do give a warning in advance I’m an F-tier tank at the best of times too.

What a weird thing to post about. Who cares, I’m sure they didn’t.
Maybe play a tank yourself.

My last 3 Druids were Feral tanks, this time I play boomkin.

Where’s that doofy elf to insist that the only version of WoW with (1) proper tank is the best version of WoW. :expressionless: :expressionless: :expressionless: :expressionless: :expressionless: :expressionless: :expressionless: :expressionless:

Feral Druid can tank anything outside of raiding, and with proper support/gear can even do that.

Don’t drink the koolaid.

Become Bear.

That druid should be shamed into shapeshifting into a rat for the next 18 months. Bear tanking is ridiculously easy.

Blizzard could make every class in the game a capable tank and this would still happen - 4 people looking for a tank.

Bears and Paladins are fine tanks in dungeons. Warriors are very well equipped to tank raid bosses but dungeon tanking is another thing and it takes some reps to get good at it. Warriors really benefit from items that do thorns damage - but that’s another post.

The reason people are afraid to tank is plainly obvious. The only way to get good at tanking is to tank, mess up, learn, tank more, repeat. Players think they deserve very experienced tanks in their leveling dungeons but that isn’t what you will get most of the time. You are getting the person who stepped up because they wanted to get some quests done and maybe a couple blues.

Your tank isn’t a high keyed M+ player who can magically pull the entire room, interrupt every cast and hold it while you AOE it down. If people would stop playing like that is how Classic WoW works it would help.

yup :expressionless: and blizzard already made tanking so easy for these people with dull speck. still, no takers.

So…what’s a good thing to post about…you know, in your opinion

On Topic - People don’t want to tank classic wow because it’s a chore and they usually get bashed when that chore isn’t done to other people’s liking.

As someone that has frequently tanked all iterations, and is currently the main tank of my raiding guild…yea…mid level dungeons as a warrior tank is a pain in the rear. Even with 2h SS+Cleave…threat is just so chaotic and dps are can’t hold off for two seconds from pew pew pewing.

So yea I can see people’s hesitancy of not wanting to tank or deal with the grief that comes with it.

They weren’t looking for a tank, but a leader.

It’s been quite bad at low levels so far for me, I’ve had to tank most dungeons so far as a ret pally because we can’t find anyone. I mean it’s only been Deadmines, SFK and Stockades so far so it’s pretty easy but I hope it doesn’t stay like this the rest of the way. But yeah like the OP is getting at, sometimes you just gotta suck it up and go albeit a little more slowly.
