I’m like 99% sure this spell (Levitate) does not work this way you still take dmg.
Does not protect you from ground effect damage.
Priest has no way of avoiding ground effects other than walking around them.
I mean, not really - it takes 5 seconds to run 35 yards at normal speed. The cast takes 1.5 seconds. You could think of DoS as the equivalent of triple+ speed, which is obviously much better than +40/50%.
It certainly was nerfed eventually so as not to be “too good” for classes like DK meant to be slower, but they could also un-nerf it back to instant if they’d wanted to, e.g. But even as it was, it’s vastly better than feathers or Body & Soul.
You can use levitate to float over the webs in that nerubian delve. They should extend this to all ground effects and give us a talent to make levitate not break on damage.
You used to be able to Levitate over the earthquake attacks in Throne of the Tides (Cataclysm dungeon). I always found that quite cool. Reminded me of Final Fantasy.
No. No more talents. Just baseline.
Yeah. Letting Levitate do this baseline would be fine. 90% of the time you get knocked out of Levitate due to some other random aura damage anyway.
Our talents aren’t in their final form yet. Half of our trees will be different spins on Tithe Evasion soon enough.
It takes priests 3.6 seconds to run 35 yards using Angelic Feather, so Door of Shadows is more than twice as fast as priest’s current top speed.
It’s pretty cool you guys broke out the stop watch and figured that out! Edit: sincerely. that can be lost in text or forums at times so thought worth the edit cause it was cool.
I was exaggerating a tad of course. I knew running would be approximately 2.1025324589234554329 slower. I was mainly just trying to say I hate the cast time.
And you can be forgiven when you’re used to Blink having no cast time while being almost as good with 1/6 the cooldown.
I only know the math because I went into a (nearly) complete breakdown of each class’ basic mobility options to demonstrate just how slow priest is and why priests have been clamoring endlessly for what is essentially Bad Blink or Bad Wild Charge. The mobility problem is simply so extreme that getting what other classes have but with a 90 second cooldown feels like a lifeline.
Just bring back the talent (i think it used to be a glyph) that lets us change life grip so it instead pulls us to our target.
Think we never had that as a talent, but as a legendary in shadowlands.
But they already said they won’t give us that in any way, F that we all want it
Blizzard acknowledged Vault of Heavens in Dragonflight beta and said that priest can’t have it because then Leap of Faith would never be taken.
Tacit acknowledgement that priest mobility is so bad that every priest would gladly sacrifice Leap of Faith for mobility and that abilities like Leap of Faith and Rescue would likely serve no purpose if priest didn’t have broken knees.
God yea I forgot that statement… so much bs…
Like I would totally give up Vault of Heavens in the node talent if Leap of Faith is useful in certain situations, but 99% of the time Leap of faith is useless in everything outside PvP.
I mean blizz if you want me to take LoF at least make fights or mechanics that using it makes the difference
They can’t make mechanics that require Leap of Faith because of composition concerns. If Leap of Faith is required, then it can only be required for one, two, or maybe three players over the course of a fight because raids can’t assume you have enough Leap of Faith/Rescue available.
Because they can’t require a Leap of Faith for more than a few players, evokers are naturally better at doing that job because: 1, Rescue is essentially better in every way, and, 2, priests are the only class that is guaranteed to require a rescue in the various situations that may require it.
Yeah, the chance of getting interrupted/knock backed definitely makes it feel worse than it really is.
I’d bet the animation too didn’t help the feel of the talent, as I recall the blood/swirly effect continued a bit even after the casting (and re-appearance of the char) - and even if it didn’t interrupt new casts the whole drawn out very long animation probably made it feel even slower.
Ah, so that’s why priest mobility is dogpoo, they have to keep Leap of Faith optional so the best way to do that is to make sure priests are miles behind everyone else and are never in a position to grip people to safety.
200 iq by blizzard ngl.
Statements like this are why I never talent into leap of faith or twins of the sub priestess. I’ll be damned if anyone is going to benefit from this incomplete design template.
Priest mobility is terrible because Blizzard wants every class to have different strengths and weaknesses but Blizzard’s design is so uneven that those strengths and weaknesses are way out of alignment.
Somebody needs to be the slowest class, but Blizzard has been creeping up mobility dramatically and every class except priest has gained mobility and numerous ways to resist or remove slows/roots/forced movement/crowd control within the last twelve years. Priest has only lost speed in the last ten years, gained none of the slow/root/cc resistance the other slow classes have, and has no notable strengths that compensate for that massive weakness.
If we were actually the “Masters of Healing and Preservation” (quote taken from Priest class description in original Vanilla manual) I could live with the broken knees. But we just get the short end of every stick.
It’s also been like this for a very very long time if anyone remembers. I’d say Cata was when it dropped off a cliff and never got better.
