Refusal to group with Alliance/Horde for M+? This is a thing?

Yesterday I had someone leave a M+ group, just because the leader invited an Alliance player.

Is this actually a thing you’ve seen? Or, did I just run into one weird role-player?

As God intended

We need a new faction war after the World Soul Saga or things will get stale :crossed_fingers:

WoW dies with the faction war.

If you’ve paid attention to any other MMORPG that has gone on maintenance mode or straight up shutdown, the two main symtpoms before death are the following;

  1. P2W Cash Store
  2. Merging of Factions

Examples: Aion, Rift, Everquest, Wildstar

Having two polarized playbases clashing with eachother within the same space is huge for player engagement; we end up creating our own content.

Imagine if the NFL only had one football team which played against computer-programmed players every year. Might still be exciting, but having teams to get passionate about who play against eachother goes an even longer way.

EDIT, Clarification: 12/28/23 8:23 PM EST

I’m not saying cross-faction is the reason WoW was dying during late-stage Shadowlands, i’m saying it was a sign of bad times.

For example, Chest Pain may be a symptom of a Heart Attack, but it is not the cause of a Heart Attack.

Never seen it, but I’m sure there are some die-hard faction conflict fans out there. I hope it’s rp-related though.

No we don’t.

The faction war is the definition of stale. It needs to die.

Technically everything we do in this game is RP related, it’s in the game description, you know, an MMORPG.

Because people loved BfA, right?

The choice could be faction-conflict related or that person could fundamentally believe that the human playing the opposite faction character is somehow lesser than him/her and not want to group with that human. The former example is rp-related. The latter example is weird.

bfa was fine it was their implementation of mechanics that sucked

Well that’s just completely wrong.

You mean like wow’s main competition, FFXIV where no factions have ever existed?

You seem very out of touch.

I guess you haven’t been keeping up with how FF14 has lost 70% of its playerbase this past year? Ironic to call me out of touch in that regard.

WoW players that tried to shift to FF14 out of protest have all come back home, including myself.

FF14 was nothing more than a sloppy rebound.

There is no other MMO on the market that is even in the same ball park as wow and FFXIV. You are out of touch if you think no faction war means the death of wow. I suppose I should lump you into all those “x will be the death of wow” type of people. Every single one of those people were wrong and so are you.

I still play FFXIV. It’s still a great MMO. People can enjoy more than one game if you didn’t already know that.

Everquest players could group with anyone they wanted to regardless of race from the get go and had a common tongue. Race only mattered with being KOS to opposing alignments cities. This was not the reason EQ died.

I don’t have time to play two MMO’s, i’m too busy

IRL

Volunteering at my local soup kitchen, donating to my local animal shelter, volunteer firefighting, and representing less financially well off citizens as a public defender.

You could probably fit in another game if you spend less time posting bait threads.

This has literally nothing to do with what we’re talking about. That’s what people do when they can’t argue the point. They deflect. Good job.

I brought percentages, data, and previous case examples of dead MMORPG’s

You brought words & opinions

I’ve watched too many worlds I love die

If people need to be sacrificed during another Faction War to keep Azeroth’s heart pumping, I will make that sacrifice

I have the will to do what must be done.

pretty sad, says way more about the people that play horde and that whole mentality.

I main an alliance mage at the moment.

I saw a group with that and some solid Raid IO scores. Laughed and moved on.

Did you…did you just like your own comment on alts with the same name? Ok, cool…I thought this was satire with all that intensity, now I’m sure. Thanks for the chuckle!
