Its fine for what it is I guess…. but its so awkward where it is in the tree. We’re forced to take it to get Arcane Surge. Also feels like it should be in the Mage class tree under Mirror Images. Makes picking talents a lil rough and why the bloat?
Certain talents are mandatory based on where they are in the tree and this is one of them. This isn’t an issue but not having enough talents is an issue for arcane.
This is precisely why it is an issue. Arcane was already starved for talent points, particularly for AoE builds, because of far too many AM talent nodes for things that should be baseline features. On top of that we’re one of the last remaining specs to have multiple mandatory 2 point talent nodes which only further aggravates the problem.
The devs knew all of this, or at the very least they should have, and yet they stuck us with a new mandatory talent anyway that is defensive in nature and actively competes with throughput talents. And this after they also made the decision to force us into AM builds for the next season because of the AM focused tier set they designed.
It’s like all of these decisions are made in a vacuum with no consideration with how they interact. The right hand doesn’t know what the left one is doing and we pay the price for that incompetence…
