Source for this?
IGN did a report on this last year near the end of Dragonflight.
I’ll ask again, do you have an official source for player numbers that comes from Blizzard?
LOL I’m not lying thats the damn current player subscribers for TWW. Why would I want to throw out lies about a sub count? What would that benift me with?
So, your source is, “trust me bro” ?
Your lack of willingness to do your own research is an indication of “prove me wrong or I’m right on knowing you’re wrong”
You made a claim, but can’t provide a single valid source for it, but it is somehow my fault that I’m misinformed, lol.
That player number of 7 million was pulled from a Belluer video. It was just him speculating. Blizzard hasn’t released any solid numbers about their player subs. They showed a graph at the GDC with player sub trends, but there weren’t any numbers on it. All it showed was the combined retail and Classic player trends over the last few years.
Ironically, the graphs showed a huge dip in player trends, and saw huge spikes for Classic release.
The rumors coming out of Blizzzard, is that Classic carried the game through most of SL.
The bias against Classic on this forum is just uncanny at times.
I wasnt lying, thats the closest we have to an official estimate. See you did your own research, I’m proud of you.
I knew this stuff before I even engaged you. I just wanted you to realize that your claims were being pulled from bad sources, which undermines your entire initial comment.
AKA, you don’t know what you’re talking about here at all.
Truth is, those graphs were combined subs from Classic and retail. No one knows which version has more players.
Wait, so you knew what I was talking about was closet to a real subscription count that we’d get to an official Blizzard announcement. But your ego got the best of you and you wanted to try and make me look like I was making things up? You’re a special kind of person.
Yeah, you’re hopeless, just here to flame and derail.
Classic is what wow actually is. Retail is what happens when you cave to casual input for fast $$.
Retail is closer to Diablo than it is to its roots atp.
sighs for someone who claims to be coherent, your comprehension is lacking. Im not here to derail the topic I’m giving an opinion in relation to said topic. You’re the one that is hopeless.
The $90 brutosaur was…

Especially considering the state of retail lately. Was unplayable earlier this week.
Low quality, no care.
Love Classic, no microtransactions, no immersion-breaking nonsense, just WoW.
Might be dated, but tons of fun games are.
Classic is very much not timeless like chess, this kind of hyperbolic praise is why no one takes the classic boosters seriously
The literal only reason Classic is a thing is because Blizzard caved for money.
I guarantee, 20 years from now, people will still be playing Classic WoW somewhere.
Because it’s timeless, lmao.
It’s probably the singular most demanded thing from Blizzard, and we got it.
Retail would be getting a lot less funding if Classic wasn’t around- you should be thankful lol.
And Blizzard doesn’t even have to really do anything.
Oh man, your ego could fill a stadium.
You got it and it ended up so meh that the only way they’ve found to keep it afloat was to actually build things off of it because the “no changes” nonsense requested by the hardcore classic boosters was completely impossible to make work in a way that was remotely profitable.
It literally only exists to stave off the collapse of BFA and it still failed to do that in SL.
You know, most of us play Classic for the adventure and prefer not to boost through it.
I’m just happy I don’t have to see murloc pajamas and other stuff that kinda breaks the immersion for me.
Retail is inherently less serious, and that’s weird.
It would be doing a lot worse without the in-game store to keep it afloat, I’m sure.
I keep coming back to this post, and I keep seeing the response and I just wonder…why are people so bent in proving that “they’re version” of WoW is the better WoW?
Retail is doing fine. Classic is doing fine. It’s not like they are in competition. Blizzard’s not going to like Battle Royal them and keep the most successful version. My understand was that both are kind of independent from each other and they exist because they make profit. Regardless of how the other is doing?
If you like Classic more…Great! If you prefer Retail… Ditto mark! Why we got to fight? Tell me your favorite parts of either. I want to hear all the cool stories!
