Reefbreaker Moruud - Tidal Crash

Is there a mechanic anyone knows about to avoid getting stacks of this spell? Always see people, including myself, dying mid way through fight. I am assuming blizz just hasn’t addressed this problem yet.

I’m not aware of any. If your class doesn’t have a way to handle the dot (eg. AMS, dispel) you’re up a creek, as far as I can tell.

Use the ropes to fish him out to the land then slap him. Please don’t judge me, I’m undergeared I can’t beat him in the sea. Or maybe the ropes are there only when the bonus objective is up, and only then can you kill him.

Here’s what I end up doing on my hunters. Buff up and send in your tank pet, unload as many dots and/or damage as possible until you get the first stack of Tidal Crash, slap a heal on your pet, then back out of range, usually just by the tree Moruud is facing should be far enough. Step in just to heal your pet as needed, then step back out.

Once the first stack falls off, go back into range and use your Survival of the Fittest damage mitigation abilities to soak up the next stack or so and back off again, remembering only to step in to heal your pet. Do this until you’re roughly at the point where you’ll need to use Exhilaration and pop it. That 2 minutes cooldown really sucks, but if you have Natural Mending, every 30 focus you spend helps reduce the cooldown by another second. It sure isn’t much, but every second counts.

I usually carry some healing potions for extra healing. My turtle pet also has Fortitude of the Bear that increases yours and your pet’s health by 20% and heals you for that amount. It also has a 2 minutes cooldown, so you can use that in between Exhilaration cooldown.

Watch out for Undertow and get back to the tree if it’s being cast. If you screw up and get sucked in, pop Turtle if you haven’t used it already to soak up the first 8 seconds of Tidal Crash. I can certainly see why so many people avoid this World Boss. Most of the time, the drop rewards aren’t worth the time or hassle unless you’re collecting enchant formulae or a couple of drake customizations.

I think that’s about it. Your iLvl is much higher than any of my hunters, so I believe you can do it. Good luck to you if you decide to give it a go!

As ranged, you can deal with it by staying very close to your 40yd limit and steping back when he’s casting Tidal Crash, then back in once he’s done.

I’d love to know what melee is supposed to do tho. 477 Warrior and I just die to the DoT through defensives

I think as a whole the community is avoiding it. It is almost always up on my server. Hardly anyone post in General to kill it.
