Reduced cost of respect in classic WoW

exactly this

You want to change specs often, you pay for it. It means decisions matter. It’s good for the game. Good for the game even if it makes you feel bad.

I argue to gain context about why people believe or don’t believe something. People don’t change their opinions, which I can accept. I don’t accept that we should call each other names and not have a conversation.

Get cheap spec change, next thing you know you’ll be crying for dual spec . . . because it’s just easier.

I think you need to do some actual reading/watching on how this project came to be. There isn’t a “mismanaged expectation” because the mandate is clear, and it’s under that mandate that Blizzard have undertaken to produce Classic. All those people who agitated for it and signed the petition and helped push it onto the table aren’t confused in any way about what Classic is. It’s just everyone else who did nothing to get it here, who now want to get their absurd personal whims added in as if it’s a matter for discussion. It’s not - the mandate is there. There may be discussion around issues that are really unclear and tricky (some of which were addressed in the Blizzard presentations), but not about clearly non-Vanilla feature sets.

All the things you’re talking about you’ve just pulled out of the air in direct opposition to all the material available to you. You already have Retail, which came to be in its current state due to the very process you are advocating. And now you are arguing to apply that process to Classic, which is a reaction against that process in the first place! Honestly, is it any wonder some of the long time supporters of Classic get frustrated.

Blizzard crunched the numbers and looked at the risk, and have decided to create Classic. I don’t think they’re too worried about your personal risk assessment of the project.

Everyone’s talking about mandates, like BLIZZARD isn’t allowed to change BLIZZARD’S mind about what BLIZZARD does with BLIZZARD’S game.

Here a good start on that clear message to Blizzard:

Blizzard stands to make a good deal of money with Classic. Look at the hype and enthusiasm that is building for it. This classic mandate is part of the sale. If Blizzard were to abandon it now it would be killing the goose that is about to lay golden eggs.

What is dual spec

Saqe or Whiskee?

I doubt the small handful of people who would refuse to play over a few QOL changes are really going to affect what profit Blizzard makes. Most people are going to be playing to be playing all the original content as current content, not so that they can escape free respecs.

Why you’re not in marketing.

I think the people that change specs regularly are probably more in the 1% category rather than the 99%. Just trying out a new spec once in a while keeps your respec costs low, its only min maxers that need to have a different spec for all their different activities that actually use the feature regularly in the first place.

Cheaper respecs? Why not free repairs? What’s the difference?

Well because these things were not in Vanilla and don’t belong in Classic. Parts of the game are intended to be inconvenient - like life.

It’s more than for certain classes spec dramatically changes game play and have a lot more reason to respec frequently than other classes. If that was the case for all classes yeah respec costs would make sense.

Yep Ziryus. Each class has their differences. Hunters pay for pet food. Hybrids that feel compelled to play multiple specs pay the cost. That’s the game.

Fair is not really a word that belongs in Classic. It’s class fantasy - some things punish some classes more or less than others.

It is, and it’s one of the bad aspects of vanilla. We’ll see how people feel about it a few months into classic when the rose colored glasses are off.

This is really awesome (I hadn’t seen this one myself), and people should watch it. Big thanks to Mark and the players and streamers who made this happen. Note that streamers helped make this happen - the same streamers catching a whole lot of heat from the “non-boomer” set lately.

No. Choose your build and live with it.

So my little Millennial… do you actually know what a Boomer is? You’re out by at least a full generation, my friend.
