Rediculously high latency

Since the latest two patches/updates were added to the game, I have been experiencing ridiculously high latency both in the open world and instances to the point of the game being literally unplayable. Before these last two updates i was getting 60-70ms but now it ranges from 70-1000+ at any given time. I have uninstalled all addons as well as the twitch client, flushed the dns, restarted modem, uninstalled wow altogether, literally everything the support team recommends doing before making a post.

I live in southeast texas so im not sure why this is happening, cause it doesn’t happen in any other game besides wow and classic wow, in all of my other games i play my latency ranges from 25-50ms on avg, and my internet is 300mbs/30mb up and i am hard wired so this issue should not exist to begin with.

Please shed some light on what the hell is going on with this, cause it’s ridiculous to have never had this problem now all the sudden the game is unplayable and yet were still paying for it even though we can’t even enjoy the game.

FWIW, i also posted about crazy latency in nodes at Blizzard. Your hop 5 and 6 are very similar to what I’m seeing (and posted about today). My looking glass post had these numbers:

I’m seeing similarly poor results in the same blizzard ranges you are (137.221.68.x)

Yeah idk what is causing it, im more then 75% sure it’s on blizzards end of things since it has no effect on other games, and like i mentioned before this wasn’t happening 1 1/2- 2 weeks ago. And i’ve literally tried everything including vpns/ping reducers and nothing helps.

please run a winmtr test and post - https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/27780 - run it for 10-15 minutes, you can play while it’s going to make sure you’re experiencing latency problems.

Same here, would appreciate help from blizz but they’ve never replied with any help to these issues whatsoever

Blues reply with help for latency issues all the time. While sometimes latency has the same cause for different people, it usually doesn’t, anymore than “my computer broke” is the same between two people. So it is better if people make their own thread so they don’t get confusing with a bunch of people with different problems tacking on me too.

That said, your issue appears to start midway along the path to the server. You start losing lots of packets along a backbone hop. You have some hops that aren’t responding along the way, which maybe makes it possible it starts a bit closer to your home network, but I doubt it. Either way, this is something you’d need to complain to your ISP about. Using a VPN would likely be a workaround until your ISP/the backbone provider can fix the problem, and it fixing your issue would also prove that the issue lies with the ISP.
