If you were allowed to design your class off the basic high fantasy arc type purpose, what is your favorite class be and would you devote most of your time to it?
You are allowed to go under the hood and redesigned how a lot of the systems work and how it affects class performance.
Hunter turns into a melee ranged combo class again like classic and hybridizes with a enhance shaman. Dual wield OR ranged, healing and nature spells, etc. Bit like the old EQ ranger.
Not the whole class, but ret paladins specifically. I’ve always loved the idea of them using a 2 hander in one hand with a shield in the off hand. Like the crusader in diablo 3 with the heavenly strength talent. I just think it’s cool.
I would choose the Rogue Class. I always loved Agility Leather type classes and a Rogue was my first level 60 back in Vanilla.
My major problem with Rogues is that it’s hard to find groups. They are a dime a dozen DPS, and melee at that, which is already crowded.
What I would do is give Rogues a Tank spec. If I could Tank on my Rogue, I would love it. It would make finding groups easier, for sure. And make us more useful in situations where the Tanks DC or Rage Quit in pugs.
They changed Combat to Outlaw… so I would change Outlaw to a new thing with a Tanking theme. Maybe Warden? Instead of a class just make it the Rogue Tanking spec. With Warden abilities. Or call it Bounty Hunter, with enforcer/bodyguard themed skills.
paladin new spec: crusader
their job: long range heals since you guys can’t figure out how to make the talents work for range play and making every single paladin spec melee. otherwise i’d redesign holy back to range bc it’s current iteration is trash.
I’d love a Rogue rework. Outlaw leaning more into the pirate themed stuff could be cool.
But it’s hard to make the class fantasy of an assassin jive with the modern game design of AoEing down massive packs and pulling them into more massive packs. It just feels like the game has gone too high fantasy for a small time thug class.
It always looks funny when burning a pack. You have a paladin throwing all of these giant glowing hammers, holy light radiating everywhere. A moonkin lasering everything. My mage shooting a million arcane missiles and orbs all over the place, and then a rogue with a couple of knives just stabbing really fast.
Guardian Druid is obviously my favorite spec, but Druid is my favorite class.
I think if I were gong to make a material change to the way Druid plays, I’d focus more on their shape shifting. Instead of it being a fire-and-forget buff, I’d turn their animal forms into CDs.
Death Knight but with moar death, and scythes, and all 3 specs can tank again. Hunters abilities now only summon pets from your stable rather than random animals. Rogues aren’t squishy and have a 4th spec for evasion tanking. Warlocks can cast all spells while moving.
Warlock tank, turns Curses into debuff auras, Carrion Swarm as a knockback, Hellfire, Harvest Life, Sacrifice changes Summon Demon into a short cast stance swap to flex between special pet abilities, DR increase and limited mobility while casting, and so on and so on.
Being able to fight with weapons if we wanted to rather than relying on a glyph and I’d probably chuck a stealth in there too.
And being able to stealth. Monks are so skilled and disciplined that we can fool the enemy into thinking we’ve vanished when in fact we’re just standing still.
Besides melee/ranged SV BM hybridization, I’d make the chance for Kill Command to proc Dire Beast 50% and also change it so not only does Call of the Wild lower the CD on barbed shot and KC, but they also lower it by 5 seconds each so you can spam Call of the Wild and KC spawns.
