Red Proto-Drake from Ronin's shield do not reset when pulled to far away

I just had a Red Proto-Drake from Ronin’s shield aggro on to me. I tried to run it away to reset it so I could get back on my dragon mount. Well it would not reset. I was able to get it to the river between Azure Span and Thaldraszus before I fell down a waterfall and died. But it followed me and kept me in combat the entire time.

Just had the same thing happen to me. I didn’t even aggro it, someone else had it stuck to them while in Ronin’s shield. It wasn’t aggroing me, I didn’t attack it. I left the area and tried to mount, couldn’t. Suddenly had 100% threat and the proto dragon was heading at me from a mile away. Eventually I just let it kill me and that was the only way to get it to leave me alone.
