Recruit a friend was more OP than Boosting is now

Recruit a friend in BC:
-triple xp for both players on an unlimited number of characters.
-could boost recruiter one level up to 60 for every two levels earned by rectuitee.
-free summon every 30 mins.
-free epic mount.

TBC classic boost:
-one per account.
-costs money on every account you use it on.
-only boosts to lv 58.

My only issue with the current boost is that they are charging for it when recruit a friend and one boost per expansion has been free.

I think the charge is to deter people who would otherwise exploit it. I’m fine with the charge.

still involves playing the game

1 level and you still had to play in between the boosted levels

the problem with convenience is a matter of degree. Being able to summon to ur RAF buddy is not nearly the same as boosting instantly to 60

only for the person recruiting if I’m not mistaken?

make new accounts

adds a pay wall to it vs the RAF which was free

skips all the content, you don’t play at all to get the levels. RAF still meant you had to play the game.

You know what the difference is?

One was designed to get players in groups interested in the video game because the developers knew that friendship is why their game is popular.

The new thing is just a cash grab and a very lazy way to get tourists into the game for a little while.

RAF is a more powerful and profitable tool, Boosts are nothing but trouble and short term gains.

I vaguely remember doing the RAF boost back then with a friend who ran me through Zul’Furrak for most of the way. We did it in one sitting albeit was 8 hours at the time, but got my alt ready for outlands leveling. We also had a third person in the group not sure if this had any effect, but it was really fast.

You technically still have to play the game w/ RAF but it still only takes a good month or two of play (depending on how much you play, can be less) to get a lvl 60 in every class with it, it is way more OP especially with profession CDs.

But it’s done through playing the game! That’s the key part
