So this was touted as coming back in 8.2.5 or did I miss some deeply hidden post about it not? My girlfriend was really excited to try wow with me but wanted to be sure I got a refer a friend and now we’re kinda just stuck.

Why wasn’t this included with launch?
I have two people who want to play and making them wait an excessive amount of time is going to put them off even bothering.
Shouldn’t have taken it out in the first place until the replacement was ready.

So, let’s say someone recruited a friend for the launch of the patch, because it was promoted as being a part of this patch’s content (so, logically, it would be there at the start of it, not midway through), that would mean their recruited friend will no longer be eligible for the RAF program, since their account will be too old when it’ll actually be released?
The least they could do is giving us a clear date, not their usual ‘‘Soon’’ that doesn’t give any real answer. I won’t believe they truly don’t know when it’ll be available.

same exact situation, given the feature was said to be released with the patch I feel we at least deserve answers regarding the timeframe of retroactive new accs. As we cannot start playing and know safely that she wont have to start over.

Would have been nice if they didn’t announce this right before a patch. Blizz’s marketing dept should get a raise for their great job at producing misleading hype.

This right here, seems there are a lot of prospective new players now whos first experience with WoW is being told “hey dont log in bro cant make your acc yet cause the devs wanna screw off and give misleading timeframes” When questioned about it were given no answer, no timeframe.
Somehow the feature was late enough in development it is listed in patch notes and messages sent as it being released with this patch, but not developed enough we can be informed of basic mechanics of the system at the same time such as timeframe of retroactive RAF accs (used to be 30 days). Schrodingers update. Could definitely do better than this for your paying customers especially given the RAF feature stands to make the company a considerable amount more in subs and sales of BFA in the first week of its launch. Had been hoping to catch BFA on sale but who knows if RAF will launch by then, not blues apparently.

Same. I also had 3 friends I could have recruited during classic… All part of Blizzards skeezy moves, I’m guessing.
I can’t rem if I said it earlier in this post, or in another one, but my money is that the new RAF goes live in 5 days… Oct 1st. Why? --edit for posterity: They extended the sale to Oct 20… but we still don’t have RAF.
Because Blizzard is currently running a sale on BfA, and the sale ends Sept 30th.
So if you want RAF, you have to wait until Oct 1st, AFTER the sale is over.
And people have suggested, “just buy the game now, but don’t activate it until Oct1.”
Frankly, I don’t trust Blizzard to even honor that. It doesn’t matter… WHY DO THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE??? JUST RELEASE RAF LIKE YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING TO DO.
They also haven’t answered the very basic question of: will the old RAF rewards be available? Now or ever??
Blizzard: we’ll talk a good game about “transparency” and how important it is, but in ANY SITUATION when given a chance, we never say one gd word. spit

The new RAF will either go live after the sale or after the 15th Anniversary event.
Either way, they are probably aiming to wait until AFTER a major event were players return to bring back RAF, thus really making it a “recruit yourself with alt account” system.

as of 8.2.5 the recruit-a-friend friends menu treasure icon is back and shows that I still have 3 earned rewards and I have every possible choice, check back again when there are new rewards to spend the points.

Sounds like some people actually had real friends ready to go for this. Any idea how hard it is to get a new customer? Any idea how long these people are willing to dangle on the line?
The very least blizzard can do is announce the RAF will be retroactive to the launch date of 8.2.5 and then make that happen.

When does the new recruit a friend arrive? At this point I’m holding off from referring people just because I wanna benefit from these awesome new rewards!
Probably some time after Blizzcon. Maybe even after the 15th Anniversary event for maximum “newness” of “new players.”
